Holgate Racially Abused By Firmino - The Guardian

I think it`s the other way around mate.

The fact that the ref hasn`t done anything means the FA can step in and punish him.

If the ref gives a card, I think that`d be the end of it as far as the FA are concerned.

I believe that is the correct way of it.

Clubs have learned a lot from the Suarez affair - there's now very clearly a direction from The FA to say absolutely zero while there's an investigation

Liverpool have also remained tight-lipped and haven't sought to back their player in public either.

Ridiculous to blame the club for not speaking out

Exactly, the press would have been briefed that’s pretty obvious to anyone who isn’t hijacking the thread with an agenda

The club (LFC) know the mistake last time was Suarez admitting he said it, they now know just don't admit it and unless its caught on
camera there is nothing they can do. the FA cannot charge our player with lying (which I don't believe he has) because how would that
look for other players coming forward in the future?

the FA are taking far to long with this its now 7 days, maybe its a panel of 3 and two agree on it and 1 doesn't, either way this now need sorting one way or the other as its dragging on for the fans and players. its all the kopites are going on about on twitter still

Must admit, at one point because of how silent we were over all this (I know we'll say there's an investigation etc) I actually started to question if the incident had actually happened.

It's being dealt with by the FA. It doesn't benefit the club in any way to make further comment about it. Indeed, anything the club states publicly; like in a manager's press conference, may be deemed detrimental to the investigation.

Personally, I hop for football's sake that this is all a misunderstanding and Holgate has misheard something from Firmino. I'd rather neither club were dragged through the mud and tainted with any accusations of racism. To agitate a very delicate subject by allowing Allardyce to comment on it within a public forum would be akin to pouring petrol on a fire. No doubt both the manager and the press were instructed not to raise the matter due to the ongoing investigation; hence no mention of it.

I do remember that, I also remember Gerrard telling a referee to koff then giving him the two fingers, that's the difference the fa treat this club , we allow ourselves to be walked over.
clutching at straws here but,.....am i the only one who remembers mcfadden getting sent off against arsenal in the cup at goodison for foul and abusive language?
If i'm right then the refs not only ducked the possible racial abuse but he's also ducked the chance to make a statement to back up the 'respect the ref' idea and send him off for the use of his language in the context?

You’re over reacting imo.

Allerdyce was probably warned not to say anything after the game about the alleged racist incident.

Whether he said anything or not it wouldn’t have stopped the inbreds next door trawling through Holgates past to try and take the heat off them and their player.

You seem to use every opportunity to attack the club and its manager.

You either like being a WUM or you have issues that you need help with.

The club and the manager have done very little wrong here. Holgate has made his allegations, it’s now up to the FA to investigate and draw its own conclusions.

Grow up or get some help.
Thanks for your invaluable input on this issue.

While I take your point, 'completely backing' your player in instances such as this is dangerous territory and exactly the sort of thing that is being deemed disgraceful by you when demonstrated by Liverpool fans.
Backing doesn't mean you state your player is right, backing him is underlining that you have a trustworthy player and you fully support any investigation into the alleged RACIST assault he believes was made upon him.

There's more than one way to skin a cat.
