Totally agree mate, but you just know the FA will say with the Andre Gray stuff they set a precedent, so have no choice.
Two completely different episodes imo mate. One was an adult making clear anti gay views, the other a minor joking with a friend. I'm not even sure if the FA have any jurisdiction in the matter.
If they do take action it would indeed set a precedent for the future. Not sure whether the Andy Robertson post from earlier in this thread was a wind up, but I'm sure there will be lot's of cases like this if people were to make the effort to go back and look. And the FA will be aware of this.

I dont think they will charge him over those tweets, but they will be glad the subject is being widely circulated because it'll help them come to their fudged conclusion that both players are failing in their duty to not bring the game into disrepute and a game or two ban will come both players way...the Firmino punishment being over his 'puto' comments rather than dragging in the racist comments he undoubtedly said.
The worst thing for me is that our manager/club left a space free by not backing 100% their own player and the vacuum was filled by Liverpool fans getting on to their friendly journos who created an altogether investigation than it was meant to be.Those Holgate tweets must have been a god send for the FA dave, it gives them (as you say) an easy way to give them both a slap on the wrist with lesser charges.
Well obviously he's a complete 'kin duffer, but we knew that before the board appointed him.It all stems from immediately post derby match. Not completely backing his player Allardyce allowed the narrative to be spun in the opposite direction.
The feller either couldn't give a damn about his own player or is a complete 'kin duffer.

The club is a shambles. We'll get taken advantage of because they aren't clued up or even arsed enough about defending our players or presenting a competent image of the club these days.
Imo, this is the worst we've been for decades all told. A laughable door mat of a club.
That's how insidious it is. It gives rise to self-doubt.Must admit, at one point because of how silent we were over all this (I know we'll say there's an investigation etc) I actually started to question if the incident had actually happened.
I don't disagree mate. I said earlier in this thread that I can see the FA using this, and probably the threat of a violent conduct charge for the push, to get Holgate to withdraw his racist allegations. It would suit the FA if Mason admitted he misunderstood Firmino's comments and the whole thing blow over.I dont think they will charge him over those tweets, but they will be glad the subject is being widely circulated because it'll help them come to their fudged conclusion that both players are failing in their duty to not bring the game into disrepute and a game or two ban will come both players way...the Firmino punishment being over his 'puto' comments rather than dragging in the racist comments he undoubtedly said.

The Kopites and their media allies have pummelled us into the dirt on this matter. Remember they tried to do the very same with United over Evra - they got their arses handed to them on plate. United came out of the traps quickly and made Suarez the issue.
Here we allowed Liverpool to make Holgate the issue.
Complete 'kin clowns run this club, from the dugout to the boardroom to the owner....and he's the biggest clown of all.

Clubs have learned a lot from the Suarez affair - there's now very clearly a direction from The FA to say absolutely zero while there's an investigation
Liverpool have also remained tight-lipped and haven't sought to back their player in public either.
Ridiculous to blame the club for not speaking out
While I take your point, 'completely backing' your player in instances such as this is dangerous territory and exactly the sort of thing that is being deemed disgraceful by you when demonstrated by Liverpool fans.It all stems from immediately post derby match. Not completely backing his player Allardyce allowed the narrative to be spun in the opposite direction.
