Hello, Hellooooooooooo

Backing doesn't mean you state your player is right, backing him is underlining that you have a trustworthy player and you fully support any investigation into the alleged RACIST assault he believes was made upon him.

There's more than one way to skin a cat.
Precisely why talking in absolutes leave you no room for manoeuvre.

Oh and thank you for putting that point in capitals I was unaware of it until now

The point of putting the word in capitals was to emphasise that's the key word that Allardyce should have been getting out there and underlining.

He/the club have failed Holgate badly. Again the chance was presented today to get the debate back on track and Allardyce just allowed the Holgate tweets issue to be front and centre.

clutching at straws here but,.....am i the only one who remembers mcfadden getting sent off against arsenal in the cup at goodison for foul and abusive language?
If i'm right then the refs not only ducked the possible racial abuse but he's also ducked the chance to make a statement to back up the 'respect the ref' idea and send him off for the use of his language in the context?

I think it's hard to give the ref loads of grief in all this IMO (unless he has heard, and bottled it) he had players all round him going on one, so I do genuinely think he has a case for not picking up the alleged racial abuse, because the way I see it, Kenny has literally got hold of Firmino's arm when Holgate reacts to what was said, but Kenny (who is closer than the ref to Firmino) doesn't even flinch, so obviously he hasn't picked up on it either.

He isn't Mourinho, the press aren't going to dance to his tune just because of what answers he chooses to give them or questions he agrees they can ask him. The tweets issue is absurd, but its obviously absurd and its obvious that it is only being raised because of what Holgate has alleged and who he has alleged it against.

How do you think Martinez would of gone about this? Sam has handled it spot on, like a dignified professional

He's a PL manager. If they speak out it's given a lot of publicity, especially if it entails a player from Liverpool.

The tweets issue IS absurd, but it dominates this case as it's played out in the media now.

oh my god

I truly believe Holgate is just using a distraction technique Maureen would be proud of and hope he gets a major suspension. something for the push and something much more for the lie. Read an article where it was "bad for the game' to disbelieve his sincerity and probably it was all just a misunderstanding.

Ya. Bullshit. Had an ex business partner years ago whose favorite technique was to accuse someone of doing whatever he had actually just done, so that whatever was said afterwards looked like sour grapes. Seen this crap before. It looks and smells just like a big pile of crap. The ref was right there right in between them.

We shall see i suppose.

Ahh, but one of them does have a brain and some eloquence too. Well done.

No. Physical rough and tumble is a part of the game. Racial abuse is something else entirely. It is disturbing that you do not know this. There is no excuse at all for racist abuse and it is far more serious than a bit of pushing and shoving. One is understandable, but the undesirable outcome of competitive play, the other is an expression of pre-meditated hatred. You just can't compare the two.

The fact that someone would even think about using racial terms as abuse in the first place tells you how they see the world and just how much of a racist **** they are. That is not acceptable, and never should be. It's a red line.

So disappointing that this still needs to be explained to people in 2018. Where the **** did you grow up where nobody told you not to be a racist?
