2025/26 David Moyes

The issue people have is that 7 games ago, we had turned it around. The target in March was 5th or 6th. Just because the target last August was “safety” doesn’t make the seasons work ok.

Another couple of things before I stop moaning for a few days:

-singled out KDH and Ndiaye for dropping their form just when we needed them. Totally true, but why only them by name? Managers don’t do that.

-apparently we were “squeezed” over winter with the squad. Again true. But a few games he had no option but to make changes, throwing Rohl and even Dibling in, we got fantastic results with aggressive passionate performances. Rohl in particular immediately binned as soon as the old codgers were available.

Phew. 🍻
Totally agree. It’s down to Moyes that we never got Europe due to his man management and in game management. He’s gotta take full responsibility and he won’t.

I wouldn’t keep him here for next season. I’d get rid and go bring a project manager in and give him time to build a team. Moyes isn’t gonna do that. Especially when he’ll go for Bowen, Soucek, Tripper and Stones in the summer.

The risk for ownership is we end up like Blackburn Leicester or Leeds for 20 years, to name but a few.

All had more recent success all went out EPL, some may not even continue to exist!

First time in several seasons we’ve been nowhere near relegation!

Palace flirted with relegation for much of the season only pulled away recently, let’s see how these other clubs cope.

At least one of them will be near relegation and Europe will be the blame.
With a post like that mate and your obvious support for the manager and Stability FC you might want to think about changing your username, unless you are deliberately being ironic

Seems the tide has well and truly turned against Moyes.

Wonder how the general feeling would have been if we had won the last two games and finished 7th…
Well, for starters, I think most would be pleased that we'd qualified for Europe, but anyone who understands football, would still have deep reservations about Moyes' suitability to be at the vanguard of a long-term vision. E.g. his handling of youth; the idea of him having greater say over our transfers.

But the notion is utterly redundant. It's like Dyche's infamous 'our form isn't too had if you add wins to it' nonsense. Those wins never happened, and Moyes didn't get us 7th. And the reason he didn't get us 7th is BECAUSE of all of his failings as a manager.

So this protecting of Moyes really needs to stop.

Sadly that is a total impossibility now.

New manager wins three then loses one? SACK THEM. Two consecutive away draws? GET THEM OUT OF MY CLUB. It’s honestly anti-productive.

People want absolutely instant success and are simply not prepared to be patient. Either that or it’s loads of cases of “empty cans rattle the most”.

The thing with Moyes is, unlike a new manager, we dont need to have patience. We all know what he is and what his strengths and weaknesses are. Its all been documented in the last 20 years and we've seen it since his return. Giving Moyes more time or showing him "patience" is actually the reckless thing to do...reckless in that we are expecting different results from someone who has constantly shown the footballing world what he is all about. Its actually unfair of us to expect him to be different at this point in his life.

That’s all well and good getting them points in previous seasons but if you don’t add to those squads and add really quality. Players get older and age. You aren’t going to go anywhere in the league. 12th highest spenders last summer, 12th highest wages in the season.

Saying that the players were here before Moyes is where it lays a major problem. A major problem. Them players here before Moyes have had us in a right mess, spending anything less than 300milion in this window, will have us in the same place next season.
It's not that simple is it. We spent a fortune under Moshiri and went nowhere. It all comes down to how you spend it and having a coach who knows how to get the best out of his squad. Moyes won't spend it well, that's the point and he also won't get the best out of his squad.

I can't speak for anyone else but my feeling would have been that he could possibly justify the awful football and terrible use of his squad by qualifying for Europe and it would be difficult to justify sacking him.

Totally agree. Our fans are so starved of success and are desperate for it, they don’t see the bigger picture.

Everyone wants Iraloa but would he improved this squad in 12 months? No, would his football suit the squad we’ve currently got? No. He’d improve individual players but not the team.

Moving stadiums alone was a big deal, how many clubs who have moved grounds have struggled to adapt for the first couple of seasons? Loads. Add into the fact we needed a new squad, had new owners, new board, new youth set up and etc. It’s not only been a major overhaul on the playing front but the club of a whole.

Anyone who runs a business will tell you it takes a lot longer to turn a struggling business around in 12 months.
Mate, as someone who has run a multi million pound business, I can tell you that you don't spend £130 million and expect to standstill but in particular I'd be wanting the resignation of my CEO who spent £50 million on assets and let them sit there doing nothing.

Given what we know about Moyes and having seen the level of player development (or lack of this season) would you entrust Moyes to protect the financial investments in playing staff of the club? I wouldn’t.

Moyes is old school, he wants his players in and not players identified by a recruitment team. No one is suggesting that an Iraola or a Glasner type would come in and hit the ground running and of course it does take a degree of squad churn, but I’d have more confidence of them getting us more attractive to watch and competitive in the next two to three years than I do Moyes.

We know what comes with Moyes from his first stint here and latterly his time with the Hammers.
