And even more shocking to hear the views of ‘ordinary Russians’, who fully believe the state Tv bs.
Well they’re soon going to be querying why their standard of living is plummeting and their savings are worth sweet fa.

That's the deluded thinking. We will be reliant on fossil fuels for a lot longer, and they will become more significant not less.

An aside to this is the idea we will all be driving around in electric cars
some countries may achieve this but there aren't enough resources in the world to make the batteries to run the cars for more than a proportion of the world. even with technological advancement this will remain the case. unless we stop using cars.
The point is what we do with our finite resources will only become more important.

If they just wanted to hold Kyiv, Kharkiv and Donbas they could definitely do that, but there's little value in it relative to the ongoing costs of occupation.

If the goal is to reduce Ukraine to a failed state, fine, but this is a high price to pay when there wasn't a real sense of urgency as an offer to join NATO wasn't coming any time soon.


Unless the aliens start killing or enslaving you both wholesale, in which case you would at least put aside differences long enough to try and drive them out.
