My only concern right now is that there seems to be a LOT of stories like this without any real proof as it were which is portraying the Russians as , basically incompetent or purposely just not fighting.
Now I believe them to be true, I don't mean that in a questionable way. Honestly , I don't think anybody , including the majority of the Russian army want to be doing this. The fact the entire world has condemed it speaks far more than anything else.
I just hope that all these positive stories are true , that they aren't just propaganda that is wide of the mark. Ukraine deserve to end this as heroes.
I did notice last night itv were suggesting that the nuclear deterrent story was perhaps down to Liz truss the foreign secretary. Honestly thought listening to them it just came across like they were trying to involve UK in the story when nobody cared.

Yeah Russians living Russia are firmly brainwashed for the most part. The Russians I know in real life though who live in the West are solidly against the invasion.
This applies to a lot of different nationalities actually. The Serbians I know who live outside of Serbia are open and honest about the warcrimes in the 1990s, same with the diaspora Turks I know when it comes to Armenia. When you start talking to ones who still live in their home countries, you can see how they've been brainwashed to think otherwise.
Its not really surprising, nationalism is powerful drug, its always that "other" fault
I know very well, hate between us (Croats) and Serbs is similar (despite speaking same language), if aliens attack tomorrow, one of us will find reason to join them just to feck with other one. It seems it became same with Russians and Ukrainians.
They had both countries flags at both of the events.

If they just wanted to hold Kyiv, Kharkiv and Donbas they could definitely do that, but there's little value in it relative to the ongoing costs of occupation.
If the goal is to reduce Ukraine to a failed state, fine, but this is a high price to pay when there wasn't a real sense of urgency as an offer to join NATO wasn't coming any time soon.
Unless the aliens start killing or enslaving you both wholesale, in which case you would at least put aside differences long enough to try and drive them out.

In terms of Russians refusing to shoot, I can definitely see an issue with that, particularly against unarmed civilians, Slavic Brothers in fact. I could see the Russians not wanting to put their soldiers in that position.
Obviously getting them to fire rockets is going to be an easier instruction - we saw what they did in Grozny against the seperatists, and what seems to be happening now.
