In hind sight the West should have done more to support Russia following the collapse of the USSR. We let the ex-KGB crooks take over pretty much.

In terms of Russians refusing to shoot, I can definitely see an issue with that, particularly against unarmed civilians, Slavic Brothers in fact. I could see the Russians not wanting to put their soldiers in that position.

Obviously getting them to fire rockets is going to be an easier instruction - we saw what they did in Grozny against the seperatists, and what seems to be happening now.

This is definitely big. My slav friends are super upset because of this, they truly view all Slavic countries as extended family.

50 years that Bosnia spent under rule of Austro-Hungarian Empire (from 1878-1918) is probably their best an peaceful period in history, Austrians built more there in 50 years than Ottomans in previous 500.

If they try to to secede it gonna cause another war, it would be disaster for them and the region, especially as Dodik (Serbian local leader) is very pro-Russian and nationalistic

How would it cause a war? Would the Bosniaks and Croats not be happy just having the Bosnian Federation.

Thinking about Medvedev’s unhinged tweets today and recently, makes me wonder about the future post Putin.

Medvedev did have a run for a while but was seen as too weak so Putin came back.

Not saying Putin isn’t a danger but looking at potential future leaders in Russia you might just get an equally hard line successor

Another point to remember for anyone looking for a coup to replace Putin, the Army has always been subordinate to the political class in Russia which is why they’ve never had a military leader, so this may not be an option.

I wouldn't be so sure, if North Korea can survive isolated, so can largest country in world. Not to mention universal stand is not really that universal, its Europe, America, Canada, Australia. China and India still gonna back and trade with Russia, South America, Africa, Iran and Middle East also not gonna turn away from them.

If there is one thing from history you can learn is that Russia doesn't back down, and right now majority of people in Russia are convinced that NATO and Europe are their enemies.

North Korea, can't see the average Russian eating grass to stay alive going down well.
Plenty of books knocking about from people who have managed to get out of that hell hole.
It's also propped up by China.
Who take its population as virtual slave workers in some regions , read up on conditions for Korean women sent to China to work, basically having to prostitute themselves to stay alive despite working every day.
If that's the future for Russia god help them.
