Yeah I think it was either a blitz or the slower approach we are seeing now.

Ukrainians don’t seem to be taking advantage of the dodgy comms?

Maybe the Russians knew they couldn’t exploit the lack of comms, but still no real excuse for the casual approach

I mean we don't know what the Ukrainians are doing. I'd be incredibly surprised if they weren't taking advantage of the comms considering they have Western intelligence support.

If they really planning to take big cities like Kiev and Kharkiv, its gonna be a bloodbath, i don't see any other way how to conquer cities of millions against determined and motivated defenders

Yeah I'm really not sure what Putins end goal is. Even if they install a puppet government the Ukrainians clearly aren't going to accept that.

It's a little different when you make a promise and a whole lot of other deals have been made with honoring that one in mind.

Why?

Its apparently well protected in terms of anti-air defence but what the US is saying is that its very hampered from breakdowns and logistical issues. I'm sure the Ukrainians are trying to do something about it though.

In reality the notion of a conventional war between NATO and Russia doesn’t exist.

It goes MAD almost immediately after the first shots are fired.

The whole point of MAD is that it acts as a deterrent to either side deploying ANY nuclear weapons.

The way you describe it suggests that you think that it's a trump card held by Russia to win a land war with NATO by default - this, along with your unrelenting stream of pro-Putin drivel over the last few days, creates the strong impression that you have simply decided to believe everything the Russian propoganda machine puts out.

If that’s more than just a military split and goes further into an administrative one, it would make sense if Russia was going to try an establish some kind of military state controlled by The Kremlin.

Quantity and quality of the conventional forces in question. The reason NATO had a shot against the vastly larger Red Army was air and naval power.

What we're seeing indicates Russia would get eaten alive in the air, which in turn would lead to massive losses among his armor units and severe difficulties with resupply. If the other side has artillery with shells and tanks with gas, and you don't, you lose in modern warfare.

Russia could still win, if they could prevent the US from getting the stuff across the Atlantic necessary to prosecute a war, but all indications are that their navy isn't up to it.
