Succession Planning - Managerial Wishlist

Moyes is the safe choice - that's why he got the gig in the first place.
He's here until at least May.
But he can't stay here for yet another 11yrs...or even months.

TFG have 2 decisions to make.
1) When?
2) Who?

or does the Who decide the When?

Next season. They look like the expect an announcement soon.

A minority of 1 ;)
I think he came to us at a bad time, where we couldn’t back him financially and arguably too soon in his managerial development.

That said I think he was really well liked / respected by the players and tried to play entertaining football.
He is clearly passionate, wants to play exciting, attacking football and comes across really well in interviews.

I think he has all the attributes to grow into a successful football manager. We’re a completely different prospect now, new owners, new stadium, more financial clout - he would get the backing he deserves.

If I am the only one that thinks this, then so be it 👍

I’m not saying that this guy is on the list, but Danny Rohl has done well at Rangers (having been decent at SW). They were eighth when he took over and now second and are beating Celtic (who are having a torrid season). The SPL is a poor league and it seems particularly poor this season, but that’s still a decent recovery. May just be one to keep an eye on for the future.

I like him as a person and think he will keep improving. I think our time with him was too soon in his career and we'll not see him again.
Agreed really, he seemed to get us as a club, knew how big we were and the fact he played a part in keeping us up is fantastic.

Nothing bad to say about the chap really, he needed to go when he did, but we had terrible ownership so nothing against him.

The getting us as a club yes but was totally out of his depth tactically. Players seemed to have no idea what they were doing under him. The championship is miles off the premier League in that regard.

I'm only just coming round to the idea of Coventry coming up after telling everyone they will collapse all season

Don’t get me wrong, I am not saying he shouldn’t of been sacked etc or that he was up to the job, but I think as a person he got us and I thought (again imo) he was good for attracting young players because they looked up to him like Onana.

if you look at newcastle's home record in the league this season

they have played 13 games and have been the better side in 12 of them based on xg, the only team they weren't better than at home was against
Arsenal, they were better than Man City and Chelsea at home, two sides we haven't even played yet at home this season

in comparison, if you look at our home record in the league this season

we have played 13 games and have been the better side in 6 of them based on xg

i think under howe we would play so much better at home and we would still put in decent performances away from home
This didn’t age very well
