Succession Planning - Managerial Wishlist

Could be in the minority here but I’d give Lampard another crack

If he gets Coventry promoted, he`ll be staying with them.

Very popular with the fans and their fans are under no illusions about how difficult it will be to do to stay up with their current squad, so he`ll get a degree of leeway to start with too.

Id sooner keep Moyes (I'm no Myes fan btw) than go for Howe, he is utterly woeful. Teams can't defend, suffer high injuries because he runs players into the ground like Dyche did. Wants way more control over stuff than the likes of Moyes do, you think Moyes can be a troublemaker when he wants, well Howe can be a seriously awkward customer at times. The main reason for a NO from me though, Howe wants his keeper to be able to play out from the back and be decent with their feet (that's not Pickford whatever anyone on here tries to claim) but if you look at his record with goalkeepers over the years its terrible, Pope, Ramsdale, Begovic its people like that, I wouldn't trust him in a million years to pick a keeper. Don't even get me started on the helmet he has next too him.
Overall I find Moyes infuriorating: the no. of missed chances with tactics, transfers etc. vs Eddie Howe who's delivered Silverware and CL.

But part of me can't be disloyal to Moyes, he has overall helped stabilize us and the table doesn't lie, even if 2026 and the start to the season were slack.

So my vote is this: Moyes, deliver Europe or get really close (I can forgive a bit of bad luck). AND STAY and prove our business is moving us forward to a PLAN. This is my preference.

BUT We have a tricky run of games in our run in... if we struggle, fall well off the pace (bottom half) then I'm afraid that only exposes the football, the tactics, the weak results against lower sides and the quality of summer business, that's been evident. And there's very little to justify Moyes staying in that scenario.

SO Since it's best for EFC, Moyes, the players and recruitment that he proves the likes of me and twitchy fans wrong and simply impatient - I'll be happy to hold my hands up. It's evident he has not lost the squad.

The future...
A Howe, Iraola, (spelling), DeZerbi or Let's have Koeman, Martinez and Silva back... Debris and the Palace fella have definitely delivered CL / Europe / Silverware and or at least overachieved playing decent togger and would be options. I just feel continental managers have access to better overseas players somehow, as well as play with a bit more pizazz.

Injury prone teams
Inconsistent form and major slumps
Look unorganised at the back
Newcastle fans say Isak papered over the cracks last season as the football wasn't great
Spent huge and are below us in the table
Winning cups is nice but with the budget he's had they should be looking to be a consistent top 4 squad especially as Man Utd, Spurs and Chelsea have been average the last couple of seasons.
Look at Emery at Villa with less resources that's what a manager of Newcastle should be doing

But he's a blue right. And his teams have a go against the bigger sides. Shame they don't against the lesser sides and drop points against them

Do you honestly think he'd improve us?
He spent a lot at Newcastle when first in... I think they've had their wings clipped since right? CL, Silverware... I'd take that if it's not a re-run of the Mosh/BK era. Not a huge squad there, Isak gone... Europe game load is a big part of the flaws above (which are all fair points, absolutely).

He's spent huge on Elanga, Woltemade, Wissa, Thiaw in the summer and have regressed hugely. I have no idea what fans see in him to be honest. Playing players out of position as bad as Moyes does. Joelinton a beast in midfield playing left wide forward yesterday. Rat boy Gordon playing as a striker when he's a wide forward and Woltemade playing nearly as a centre midfielder shows Howe is clueless

All these other alternative managers are absolute wank, and will do nothing but commence another downward spiral of bollocks that will take at least half a decade to recover from.

Moyes will get to finish his current contract, just like he did with the other three contracts that he completed with Everton before he ‘abandoned’ us. Then we can consider possible alternatives, but he won’t be removed before his contract ends at the end of 2026/2027.

We will get a new manager who may or may not do OK but ultimately we are not one of the accepted big clubs and therefore nothing really matters does it.

Might win a league cup or FA cup if the stars align one year, but TBH it’s a struggle to be arsed. Best case scenario - you get well managed for 5 years like Villa - get a few seasons in Europe, likely win nothing, can’t keep spending, lose best players and manager, and back to mid table or relegation scraps.
And the result of not even trying to do that is?

Moyes is the safe choice - that's why he got the gig in the first place.
He's here until at least May.
But he can't stay here for yet another 11yrs...or even months.

TFG have 2 decisions to make.
1) When?
2) Who?

or does the Who decide the When?
