Holgate Racially Abused By Firmino - The Guardian

while of course i agree it is possible the ref couldnt have heard it, you just feel like even if he wasnt paying attention the ' n word ' would immediately snap him back into it . i feel like i could be in a busy room and still be able to pick out someone saying it, such a shocking and horrible word that we're unused to hearing. i can understand peoples skepticism from that point .

just best to see what comes out in terms of what firmino is supposed to have actually said and whetehr a misunderstanding on holgates part is plausible. actually know a blue that works at melwood and firmino is meant to be a really nice guy. just seems so strange

I disagree entirely. It's not a magic word mate. It doesn't gain volume just because you're not paying attention. If you don't hear something you don't hear it. It's really that simple.

You're right, it could be a misunderstanding and I hope it is, and wasn't Suarez a really nice bloke too?

if he has ran over and shouted the n word, of course they should? they'd at least drag him away angrily and tell him to pipe down, they wouldn't just stroll over as if nothing happened

and come on mate, you can see from the video firmino is irate after being pushed over, he runs over on the bounce shouting his head of

it's like theirs an excuse for every single person bar Holgate who didn't hear it? do you not see what I mean

ref had an ear piece in
Kenny was talking to someone else
lallana and Robertson are both scumbags as well and thought nothing of it

reeks of desperation and trying to convince yourself there is any wrong doing

Ref, one of our most important players just used a racist word, can you ban him for 12 games?

Ok mate xxx

Not really arsed what some idiot from a forum thinks of me like to be fair,

but on your logic you have zero proof he is a racist, so accusing someone of being racist when they are not is scummy anyway

like I said, there is absolutely no reason why firmino whould do what Holgate has accused him off, the day he admits it or PROVED he did I will walk to each and every single member of this forums houses and eat your toilet paper

Bring plenty of laxatives if so. You may need to make a lot of room.

Ok mate xxx

did I say they should have went over and told the ref?

if they heard it any person ( you'd hope ) would drag him away and tell him to shut up and don't make it worse than it already was, they would do something, they'd even just turn there head quick, but they have both jhust walked past like nothing has happened

people are so defensive on here, literally getting knives out because a blue doesn't think a red is a racist

if if gets proved he didn't use the n word, will you all apologise for being nasty?

Both should stop being fannies and get on with it...there is just absolutely no way firminho has said anything remotely racist before you start telling me im condoning it or whatever )

I don't know,
2) he wasn't even speaking in English, and from the first replay of the incident any person with half a brain could see that
4) if Holgate had any sense he would have reviewed the footage at the end of the game and put it down to what it was, mishearing an angry firimino
7)if the FA had any sense they'd tell both parties to get a grip

I have no idea what was said, but going off the evidenc we have you can see he's not speaking English, looks like he saying puta or something

The problem with your argument is that you're stating that you think both parties should move on, based on your assumption that nothing racist was said. You say on more than one occasion that you don't know what was said, and then in the next sentence categorically dismiss any racism has occurred. The fact is that you don't know, and none of us do.

You must know what Holgate has accused him of saying? The N word. That is a serious allegation and Holgate reacted angrily to whatever Firmino said. So if Holgate truly believed/believes he was called that then why should he move on? It's not for you or any of us to just dismiss just because we don't think it can be proved. There needs to be a full and proper investigation which is fair to both of them so the FA can determine the most likely event.

The point about Firmino speaking in Portuguese is another red herring which is a dismissal tactic by those who don't want to consider any potential wrongdoing from Firmino. In the Suarez/Evra case, Suarez made comments about Evra being black and made them in Spanish using the word Negro and not the derogatory N word used in English. Firmino could have easily have mouthed or said something linked to Negro which Holgate misinterpreted as the more sinister N word. There is no need in any confrontation to bring up someones skin colour and therefore if Negro or similar was used in Portuguese then Firmino will be charged.

I still see no evidence to suggest that Firmino is or isn't racist, or that Holgate is or isn't a liar. Because as far as I am aware nothing new has been revealed since last week and so we should wait until it has been fully looked in to. The fact that some are accusing Holgate of making it up without knowing that to be true is quite honestly, disgusting.

You could always paint us a picture of the incident ?

Bear in mind, that art is all about interpretation lol

Short on time I'm afraid mate

not getting into it with someone else, but all I'll say to you is, I am 100% not calling Holgate a liar, ive said I think he never said it and if holgate does think he has he has obviously mis heard him.
