Holgate Racially Abused By Firmino - The Guardian

What is this obsession with people saying 'too many pages'?
If you don't like this thread then others are available.

To be fair I read it that he was apologising for possibly repeating something already posted as opposed to whinging that there are too many pages in general.

One thing that hasn't been touched on is that Firmino may have mouthed the insult. The ref was clearly looking the other way and only Holgate would have recognised what was being said because he was directly opposite. Unlikely either Kenny or Lallana would have been able to lip read from the side.

This would of course have accentuated the lip movement so would have made it a lot easier to lip read had it been captured on camera. Problem is we already know Kenny is in the way of one camera angle. The same can be said of Lallana, the ref and of course Holgate himself. That doesn't leave many camera angles, and it's very possible that whatever Firmino said in those few seconds will be between the two of them.

The lad clearly believes Firmino did racially abuse him to react in the way he did. But without evidence the FA won't be able to prove this and I can see a stalemate which is no good to either party. It's all a horrible mess and I'll say again, I really hope somebody at the club is saying the right things in Mason's ear whilst all this going on.

Eh?. Chill mate. Think you may have misread that post. The guy was apologising if somebody had made that point already because he couldn't be bothered/didn't have time to go through all the posts to check.

Could you ring the FA and let them know they need to close the case then please mate.

If they ask for evidence just tell them "Cos y'know" and that should be alright.

To suggest that someone who thinks he's been racially abused should stop being a fanny and get on with it suggests that there's still a lot of work to be done by various campaign groups to get the message to sink in. I'm not for one second suggesting you're a racist, but your post certainly suggests you have a massive lack of understanding of these sorts of issues.
how the feck do you know?

I don't know,
but 1) someone who's himself black and knows how horrible it is to be racially abused would hardly go and do it to somebody else
2) he wasn't even speaking in English, and from the first replay of the incident any person with half a brain could see that
3) I'm, not suggesting Holgate is intentionally playing the race card
4) if Holgate had any sense he would have reviewed the footage at the end of the game and put it down to what it was, mishearing an angry firimino
5) there was a few other players around the incident so if a racist word was used, im sure one of them would have picked it up
6) if this was the other way around and Holgate accused on firminho I bet my house and car most of you would be calling firminho a liar

7) *edit* most importantly, stop playing the victims in this, it is literally something over nothing, firmino got a little push and then swore back ( NOT RACIALLY ) acting like kopites here, if the FA had any sense they'd tell both parties to get a grip

Thats true, there is no way nothing at all was said, Firmino might of been stupid enough to get neck tattoos but to say out loud something that close to the ref no chance

I'm actually embarrassed you're an Evertonian after reading this - if you are like.

Someone being racially abused (and you have literally zero proof that there was nothing racial, it is currently an accusation, so we don't know either way) is "something over nothing" and we need to get a grip. Wow...

I kind of agree with you, it is a horrible thing to be accused of, so I do believe that silence until the investigation is complete is the best option.
I also hope he never said anything nasty and that it was just a misunderstanding, but will people believe that. Someone's reputation will be tarnished I think.

Ironic looking at people being accused of sexual harrassment in Hollywood are being pulled from films, interviews and appearances but Firminio gets accused of this and gets offered a new contract. Amazing really.

Not really arsed what some idiot from a forum thinks of me like to be fair,

but on your logic you have zero proof he is a racist, so accusing someone of being racist when they are not is scummy anyway

like I said, there is absolutely no reason why firmino whould do what Holgate has accused him off, the day he admits it or PROVED he did I will walk to each and every single member of this forums houses and eat your toilet paper

I don't think anyone's playing the victim, I think they just want it to be investigated fairly by the FA.

You've no idea what was said, neither do I, but if an allegation of that sort has been made then it should be investigated, not just brushed under the carpet like you're suggesting.

That doesn't mean we're being victims does it, so I'm not sure why you're throwing that about and being so adamant that it couldn't possibly have been racism. I think you should settle down and stop being so desperate to waive it off as Holgate being a fanny about it.
