Funny I was telling my brother this weekend that teams should look to pick off 18-19 year olds in the lower leagues who have the potential. Kinda like we did with Stones
Has there been any interviews, articles or conversations with some of the back room staff, front office people, or older ex-Everton players about the changes Roberto has brought. I am mainly interested in the off the field stuff.
Not sure why everyone is saying they are excited for next year. We are more than half way through the season and are a point off 4th and right in the mix for more. No guarantees this time next year we will be in the same spot. Got cease the opportunity.
I think in football that clubs, fans, media are just starting to learn how to use statistics and then weight them properly. Almost like the early 2000's with baseball. Martinez referenced that the center backs last season averaged like 29 passes and now they are averaging 65. Passing stats...
Must say his honesty about how fans viewed paying what we did for McCarthy and bringing Alcaraz in are refreshing. Admitted that Evertonians at first view would think we over payed for McCarthy and would question why we bring in a player from a relegated side on a free as bad business.
Wasn't sold on him when we brought him in but man he is such a quality player. You need a guy like him in every successful team. Knows his role, willing to not do fancy things and get the glory but work hard and keep the ball moving. Excellent player.
What I love about Coleman (and Baines also) is they are exactly the type of player I would want to be. Skillful, hard working, humble, willing to leave it on the field every game. I respect professionals who treat their job like that.
I agree. My main point is the "hardness" of qualifying is not necessarily because of the 11 guys you play against. Again, the USA and Mexico should never not qualify out of this region.
