And who dragged their feet over SWIFT…..yep you guessed it folks, Germany…..

I know I keep having a go at them, but Merkel did nothing but play into their hands all the time she was in office. It was she who pushed the U.K. to a Vote of Leave, she who initiated a mass immigration across the whole of Europe, she who closed her nuclear power stations and she who ignored everyone and help build Nord Stream2. Of course previously being from East Germany under Soviet control and working for them had nothing to do with it……
Meanwhile, back in Cesspit City :

Imagine how tomorrow looks with more shops closed in plain sight, more layoffs, card processing issues etc etc

Monday morning heading into work where the gossip begins and fear, panic and anger begin to boil.

Going to be a big week in Russia.
It really is. Russian ETF's have crashed here. No way could their stock market open Monday.

I don't think Russians are this innocent people that people keep banging on about. Russians actively condone Putin, Russians actively support Putin, Russians actively believe that Ukraine should be a part of Russia. Russians have full access to the world media as well as their censorship is nowhere as bad as China.
Those protests that you see in Russia are very small-scale and nothing for a nation as big as 147M. Most Russians cheered on Putin when he annexed Crimea in 2014. People who expect Russians to rise up against Putin and start a revolution are simply living in cloud cuckoo land and don't know about the reality at all.

This financial and economic measures are exactly what needs to continue happening to pressure regular Russians, the oligarchs and the military to turn against Putin. This would be the best outcome for this crisis, for Russians to push for Putin’s removal, or if necessary his assassination. The next few days are going to be nerve racking for sure.

Unfortunately it is still unlikely according to those who study these things but it is likely to complicate Putin’s long term plans for Ukraine or invasion of other countries

Very insightful article, worth reading it. Malinowski has served as chief advocate for Human Rights Watch and is a US. Congressman for New Jersey.

The economic and financial sanctions aren't gonna turn regular Russians against Putin at all. It's just gonna anger them more and make them turn against the West. Read up what Treaty of Versailles after WW1 did to the Germans.

Exactly my thoughts. You can't turn people into becoming civilized by slapping on sanctions on them. At worst, it's gonna drum up the anti-Western rhetoric with the Russians.
