Russia's education ministry has announced that schoolchildren throughout the nation will be given a virtual lesson on "why the liberation mission in Ukraine is a necessity".

The broadcasted instruction will take place at 12:00 Moscow time (09:00GMT) on Thursday.

Viewers will be taught "about the danger Nato represents to our country" and "why Russia stood up for the protection of the civilians of the Donetsk and Luhansk People's Republics".

A statement on the ministry's Facebook page said children will also learn "how to distinguish the truth from lies in the huge stream of information, photos and videos that are flooding the internet today".

Delighted you've given us the GMT time for his, how can we tune in??

@Tree13 on fire today with some informative points and views.

;)
Sadly @Kev The Rat put me on ignore - please repost the video so he can get very upset about it, call it fake and generally spout more pro-Putin guff.

In all seriousness, I would love to hear what @Kev The Rat and @Death have to say about the oil and gas issues at play - it's beyond obvious that this is the main driver for this conflict. The narrative around "American nukes stationed in Ukraine to threaten Russia" is utterly moronic - Russia's nuclear obliteration is assured by either American land-based weapons all over the Midwest, or the submarine-mounted deterrent, or both.

The US and NATO don't need nukes anywhere they don't already have them. They didn't put any in Estonia or the Czech Republic or any of the other post-1991 countries. It's a transparently obvious false argument by Putin.

Oleksiy Arestovych - I have a strong feeling that VVH is cheating.
The average number of Russian soldiers killed in a day is 1500 people.
These idiots, so scared, drew so many troops here that they blocked all their message channels.
They drew 55% of their troops here, near Kiev and Kharkiv, and began to sit strongly in other directions, both qualitatively and efficiently.
Friends, pay attention to a very important thing:
- third one already (! ) day in a row, any of their attempts to act in separate directions ends in their defeat.
No success third day in a row.
The passage to Bashtanka - Nikolaevskaya Oblast - the defeat of the column, the attempt of the paratroopers to Nikolaev - the defeat of a paratrooper, the attempt to pass under Krivoy Rog - the defeat of an column.
See, because of their stupid operational mistakes, we'll be intercepting in the near future.
And then, for them the ghost of military defeat is increasingly obvious - first in individual directions, and then everywhere.
Pressing it up. )
Now the main task for guerrillas is to block them from the movement of rear columns that are moving forward through the occupied territories.
A classic textbook on resistance organization:
Watch the whole thing, but especially - from page 112:

This is absolutely disgraceful.

I make no secret on this forum of the fact I vote Tory. Not interested in derailing this thread with defending my political beliefs so please attack them elsewhere... I feel strongly that Johnson has to go, and I know many grassroots Tories in my social circle feel the same.

Even before Putin went all Adolf Hitler it was clear that Johnson was far too corrupt so these latest weasel moves, obviously to the benefit of rich Russian donors, are more of the same evidence. I want him out.

Well, we’ve sadly found out that the lying, disgraceful rat of a politician is seemingly bulletproof, so can’t see that happening.

Thus meaning he’s not too dissimilar to Putin in many ways, only real difference being he’s not an aggressive military lunatic.

Agree. That Major general fella said that the ratio of troops to civilians in order to keep them in order was in the region of 20 troops per 1000 people. So if there's say 44 million Ukes then that means a force of 880,000 required to keep the country under control.
And that's AFTER expending the troops to seize the country to start with.

Conventional thinking says you need a 5:1 ratio of attackers to defenders in order to successfully seize a city or other built-up urban area, because the defender has several tactical advantages (NB the strategic advantages can easily lie with the attacker) and the casualty rate among the invading troops is usually three times higher.

There's no doubt Putin has the manpower. The question is, will the Russian public accept the butcher's bill? Kinda explains why Russia exerts such a stern control over the media in their own country...
