Those people living there probably thinking the same, where was this outcry when they where bombed to oblivion and whole families massacred by American drone strikes
But harsh truth is that Ukraine is in Europe, and people are always concerned by the things that are happening close to them, in same way i care much more for my family than some nameless stranger
You can see this attitude on news reports, BBC, CBS, ITV.......
You're not wrong about that. We in the west only seem to care when the conflict is geographically close, or the TV images show the suffering of people who look like white Europeans.
It says something quite awful about how comfortable and narrow-minded our western view of the world has become.
Doesn't excuse Putin's warmongering though. And it doesn't mean we shouldn't oppose it. We can all agree that:
a) Western forces have done disturbingly similar things in the past, for VERY questionable reasons;
b) Western forces should NOT have done those things; and
c) opposing Putin doing the same things is, on the surface, hypocrisy plain and simple; but
d) we have to draw a line at some point and decide to learn from global history, breaking the cycle of unacceptable acts.
