Cut a long story short spoke to a mate who is the economist for the UN here (its a small country). Basically its finger pointing. Its a resolution that shows solidarity against Russia.. a display that they are further isolated. Does it means peace keepers going in or lines of UN support trucks - No..

I'm unsure who could guarantee a peace that Russia would accept as peacekeepers anyway...

Do you think there will be a lot of interest amongst ex-military in the uk to join this foreign legion?
Sorry for the late reply, I wasn't on so much yest afternoon. I can't answer that question for others but speaking for myself if I could I would. I doubt a lot will be happy about the situation though.

There's a world of difference between RT and the likes of the BBC, sky, CNN and the like.

Genuinely worlds apart.
Not one of our News channels with all their current affairs have challenged Boris on this claim. We not that far apart with our news that some think!

I wouldn’t worry too much about sleepy Joe. His team are the ones making all the decisions, they just keep him alive to make the odd personal appearance in order to reassure middle America - then it’s back on the machines for Joe till the next time.
It is kinda funny that folk pick up on this sort of thing andjust ignore the last few years Trump spent spewing wham at every opportunity. Not to mention Regan's rather unfortunate 'joke'.

In the grand scheme, not so bad lol

If Russia adopts martial law, it will instantly contradict all of propoganda and all of their work keeping Russians in the dark will go out the window in an instant. Though no doubt when services stopped working and the ruble crashed people must have already started to figure things out.

If Ukraine can destroy that large convoy(or did already), then I think it basically means Putin cannot invade Ukraine with a land war. I do not think he will stop. So he will instead resort to his last resort, and that is literally leveling everything with massive bombs. Every FOAB he has will be dropped there in city centers and what not. If this man hates his own citizens so much for being against him, imagine how much he hates Ukranian citizens for standing up to and stopping his army in many towns etc. If that convoy got decimated way before it even got to its target, I dont see how Russia physically takes any of the major centers in Ukraine without just obliterating everything. The longer it goes on, the more soldiers desert, the more supplies get burned through, the more money he loses, the more he realizes time is running out to invade Ukraine the more desperate and unhinged he will become. Again, I think its going to take a major uprising of the Russian people or a coup to end it without massive loss of life(far beyond what we have seen so far). Im hopeful that will happen, and the end result will ultimately be the opportunity for the Russian people to be free, if they finally take it. They've had multiple opportunities in the past 100 years to do what most nations with democracies had to do: go through brutal times and give up some of their lives for the sake of freedom. They didnt take those opportunities. Now they get another chance.

TBF having slept on this a bit and watched developments, I don’t think Friday’s meeting is to declare martial law. I think he’ll announce they are cutting off energy supplies as part of the “harsh countermeasures” they promised.

The West has conspicuously not included the trade on sanctions and it’s probably his best way to split the coalition against him; for example Orban said something overnight that though he backed sanctions he wouldn’t back a cut in energy supplies because it would screw over so many of his people (and for once he isn’t lying). He might even exempt us from the ban too (on the basis we’ve not put effective sanctions in place, or started to rearm, or offered meaningful support to Ukraine since this started…. and to highlight all that to our allies).

If Kharkiv (or especially) Kyiv falls on the same day then it’s going to really put already compromised political elites across Europe under pressure.

“Why do keep backing a losing cause / our leaders are weak” will chime all the politicians, hacks, media entities and social media types that the Russians have backed. No doubt we’ll hear it here too, from all the people we will expect to say it.

Real eye opener, well worth watching

There is two sides to everything.
The origin of the conflict in the Donbass is very simple. Massive reserves of shale gas discovered there in 2011 / 2012, enough volume to make Ukraine something like the 15th biggest producer of gas on the planet.

Russia's two largest export markets are gas and oil and geography has, until now, made Russian gas the easiest for European countries to import.

If Ukraine was to start harvesting and exporting gas on an industrial scale it would negatively impact Russian state finances. So Russia has formented rebellion in the Donbass, making development of the gas field there impossible... And then also seized Crimea, including the territorial waters around Crimea where natural gas and oil was discovered under the sea bed in 2011 / 2012.

Follow the money. It's always about money.

I'm actually quite surprised that the gas is still coming.

Stop that, and it might soon make people in Europe waiver.

Raegan used to have a sign on his desk that read "Hard work never killed anybody but why take the chance?"
