Lavrov: Third World War would be nuclear
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov is giving a news conference in Moscow.He says that US President Joe Biden has said the only alternative to sanctions is a third world war - and Lavrov goes on to say that a third world war could only be "nuclear war".
He says that is only in the heads of Western politicians - and is not in the heads of the Russian people.
"If real war is waged against us then those who make such plans should think about it [and] in my opinion such plans are being made," he says.

Why do you think Russia is at war?
When NATO is in Ukraine, its either nuclear war or Russia will be gone.
Why do people think the West has a right to take over the world and its resources for its own means and gains.
You might be warm in your bed bc of Ukraine gas has been taken by NATO but we'll have rendered a poor region of the world much much poorer still. But sure that's what the West has done for many centuries to acquire the wealth and resources it has now.
But we are better than them, right?
Are we back at the Crusades.
Has anyone thought through the consequences of when Eastern Russia and Western US are bridged through NATO. One endless NATO across the world.
When the West has run out of dissent from Russia and China, internally the same people, the same human nature that got us there will turn on the dissent of its own 'people'.

watching this Lavrov news conference on youtube - wow I know the rhetoric has gone up a notch in general but this is off the scale stuff
Interesting watch. I don't think many of us doubt American foreign policy and aggressive posturing leaves something to be desired. But once again, I can't help but look at the poor bastards on the ground caught between the aggressive posturing of powerful nation states and / or blocs.
Chomsky makes a valid point that the Americans would react badly to a foreign presence in their perceived backyard, but levelling cities does feel a tad much for a bit of national butthurt.
Maybe we just need a benign alien race to take our weapons and technology off us all and revert us back to hunter gathering times. There'd still be land grabs and willy waving, but a bit less intense.
