I have a really, really long post in my head on this topic but before I go there I was wondering: Did Farage and UKIP have a full party platform or were they a one-issue party, that issue being immigration?

Their platform was basically get us out of the EU and it'll all be sound - honest. With the prime incentive being we'd be able to stop Eastern Europeans coming over here nicking council houses and making your queue at the doctors longer. He's not a racist though.

Apart from the Racism. And how the Right DO want to control your lives, they just don't want their lives to be controlled. Theresa May is the Queen of the Snooper's Charter, Pete, or didn't you know.

The idea that the Far Right (I'll call them Fascists instead of Nationalists, as your helpful poster does) don't interfere in people's lives is laughable. Ask any woman who grew up in Francoist Spain. In fact, ask any woman in America right now how the right views her womb.

A violent protest against or for a political point is defined as terrorism.

Yes, I've read the definition and applying it to these protests really is stretching it. Once could claim that any protest is intimidating to civilians and therefore terrorism, which is the path to totalitarianism.

As an active member of AntiFa up until a few years ago, I can honestly say that the far right make my skin crawl.

I'm not a bleeding heart liberal either. Economically I am quite right leaning, as I am with regards to justice and welfare in some instances. But I largely believe in a society that looks after one another, as long as you're prepared to participate and help in that aim.

Stalin was certainly a lunatic, but not sure he was a fascist.

It's an interesting one though, because this is where the labels of left and right (far left/far right, fascism/socialism, communism) have blurred lines.

Stalin was certainly a believer in totalitarianism and he was quite an extreme nationalist, so there are certainly parallels with the other European fascist regimes of the 1930s. However, his economic policy was founded on collectivisation and state control, whilst fascism is founded on corporatism, so Stalin is more communist in this sense.

Stalin was a de facto fascist in many respects. He certainly wasn't an internationalist like Lenin and Trotsky.

Kellyanne Conway is doing a reasonable impression of Joseph Goebbels right now, too. Presenting "alternative facts" (i.e. "lies") to counter actual facts; inventing massacres on American soil to help demonise a body of people.....

The people on the right seem to lap up whatever they get on social media. I havent encountered many rights who disagree with some right wing writes veiws yet there appear to be loads of lefts who actively disagree with a fair bit of left wing writing and the terrible Jack Monroe Comment is Free article's. A lot of the Guardian columnists are awful. I rarely see the right self criticise.

The right does obviously criticise itself. For instance, I think the far right libertarians (e.g. Hayek) are utterly crazy, despite having a right wing fairly libertarian perspective myself. I also completely hate the likes of the BNP and EDL who give the right wing a bad reputation in their complete idiocy. To me, as a logical thinker, their racism just seems like the stupidest mindset that you can possibly hold. Someone's skin colour has zero relevance to their quality as a person. Same with sexuality, gender, etc. However, I would still place myself somewhere on the right of the Tories politically.

That is simply because I agree with their policies on economics, education, immigration, EU, etc. And because I think they take a more realistic and pragmatic rather than idealistic view of the world. Simple as that.
