Never said extreme leftism is not susceptible to authoritarianism. In fact, I believe extreme leftism is absolutely required to fall into authoritarianism due to its inherent instability.

Once you're in an authoritarian system, whatever you started out supporting is meaningless, you are completely at the whim of the authority, which likely will do what's best for itself, not what fits some theoretical ideal.

Also, comparing totally different cultures is super tough. It's very easy to compare Right Wing America/UK with Left Wing America/UK. Due to shared culture and history it's pretty easy to compare across Europe and North America (possibly excepting ex-Soviet nations) we all have at least similar cultures and ideals and values.

China is different. It modernized incredibly quickly (and is suffering the effects of that) and is probably differently developed from a globalization perspective culturally. This does not absolve their racism, it just suggests that the racism is not a result of their economic politics.

The cultural aspect is worth investigating, as right wing Japan is also fairly racist. Maybe it's an east west thing.......

I for one have had enough of them. They're not big nor clever. It's not 'alt-right', let's call it what it is - pure fascism.

All decent people must not stand for a potential rise of this. History will not look favourably upon the silent. Protest peacefully, and make your voice heard. The world ain't perfect by any stretch of the imagination, but I feel there is more good than bad and we cannot stand by and watch it burn.

If you've ever asked yourself what you'd have done as a citizen in mid-1930's Germany to stop Hitler, now would be a good time to find out.

Someone made a post that really skirted the lines. Several people reported it. I step in with a word to keep cool and show a bit of respect.

As an un-involved party you felt the need to step in and say your piece. You weren't the person who was reported, but yet you feel, for some reason my response was directed specifically at you. Otherwise why would you respond?

Just to Devil's Advocate on that point.... the only party that would have gained significantly (based on votes cast in the last GE) under proportional representation would have been UKIP. Their 12.6% of total votes cast would have secured about 80 seats in the Commons.

SNP would have won less seats than the 56 they currently have, because they only got 4.7% of the vote.
Tories would be around 240 to 250 seats, as opposed to the 331 they won.
Labour just under 200, rather than their haul of 232.

You'd have a Tory / UKIP coalition govt.

Brexit and Trump have lifted a rock and from under it have slithered the far right, it's given them a sense of mainstream respectability which is frightening.

They pray on ignorance and fear and the current climate is giving them a pedestal to preach intolerance and poorly disguised hate.

The laughable irony in the election of Trumo and Brexit is this completely false narrative that it's supposedly a vote against the establishment, when both have been driven by the establishment in reality. We've seen the far right create this false narrative that the liberal elite need to be defeated, which in reality is those with a balanced view, a job and a vested interest in the economy.

Get rid of the aliens and it'll all be sound, it's 1930's Germany revisited.
