Current Affairs The Far Right

You have just boiled yourself down to the stereotypical GOP generic mouthpiece.

Maybe if you try to articulate your point rather than just resort to these mini-outbursts you might get a bit more respect in these threads.
Pretty sure someone lectured me recently about respecting other forum users.... what was it they said?

Stalin was certainly a lunatic, but not sure he was a fascist.

It's an interesting one though, because this is where the labels of left and right (far left/far right, fascism/socialism, communism) have blurred lines.

Stalin was certainly a believer in totalitarianism and he was quite an extreme nationalist, so there are certainly parallels with the other European fascist regimes of the 1930s. However, his economic policy was founded on collectivisation and state control, whilst fascism is founded on corporatism, so Stalin is more communist in this sense.

He still killed millions of his fellow Russians.......

Strange that the author/artist of that piece chose those colours, as they are the exact opposite of the colours of the parties.

Blue - Dems
Red - GOP

Red is the normal colour of the left, blue is the normal colour of the right, except in the USA.....

Can we stop using Communism as shorthand for Stalinism?

Communism is the workers controlling the means of production. This is basically the idea that the workers own the factories, as they are the labor. It places labor above capital. That's it.

Stalinism is the evil 'far left' (but not really, since Stalin had no actual ideology beyond absolute power for himself) that includes totalitarianism, centralization, and the demonization of 'enemies'.

Fascism has totalitarianism as a central tenant. It is authoritarianism as an ethos. It is not an economic theory. They are not equivalent.

But Azz is correct, extreme leftism (while problematic) is basically 'we want everyone to be equal' whereas extreme rightism is basically 'we want you under control of the state'.

This is not equivalent.

It's like drawing a circle from a single spot at the top. Draw one arc to the left and draw one arc to the right, they meet at the bottom having followed left and right dogma. Centrists sit at the top, extreme left and extreme right sit together where they join at the bottom........copyright Peteblue 3 Feb 2017.........
I was just thinking that exactly as I have been skimming through the thread. It isn't a line.....it is a circle (although, as I was imagining it, the extreme right and left met at the top).

And I have just spent 10 minutes and enlisted the aid of my 11 year old daughter to help drive paint, but here it is!

Think you have the Dems too far to the left.

I for one have had enough of them. They're not big nor clever. It's not 'alt-right', let's call it what it is - pure fascism.

All decent people must not stand for a potential rise of this. History will not look favourably upon the silent. Protest peacefully, and make your voice heard. The world ain't perfect by any stretch of the imagination, but I feel there is more good than bad and we cannot stand by and watch it burn.

If you've ever asked yourself what you'd have done as a citizen in mid-1930's Germany to stop Hitler, now would be a good time to find out.

if you brave the Donald Trump POTUS thread (not necessarily recommended) you'll learn that none of the concerns you raise are legitimate, and that they're actually all just "virtue signalling," which is the main reason why people supported Trump in the first place. it's all your fault!

for the last sixty years, what was once the "far" right has become the normal right, across the Anglo-Saxon world and especially in the US. so cheer up... if the pattern holds then in ten years time, the "far" right we're so worried about now might just be mundane, and the least of our troubles. great news!

Hmm, as I recall you just seem to want blanket permission to abuse @davek because he holds a contrary opinion to you and several forum users that is critical of the manager, team and board. I reminded the folk concerned to stop doing that and you seem to want to argue against that.

There is really nothing else to say.
