doesnt seem to be a yes or no there...so ill assume its a yes.

its ok to be critical but ive noticed some posters who didnt want the manager in the first place are on today directly having at the boss almost exclusively. curious... ;)

There shouldn't be a witch hunt over criticism of the manager. I support him 110%, but i reserve the right to criticise.

We're not Kopites!

as i said...its more about who is criticising and the fact they seem to only be moaning about the manager. Would suggest the agenda they have is more important, that its not about constructive criticism.

Could be wrong though!

No, I didn't want Dunc.

I wanted ideally someone who'd won a trophy, as I see winning a trophy to be our big aim and what Moyes couldn't do 9nad I hated Moyes for constantly falling in the cups despite doing very well in the league, I wanted him gone three years back). And I wanted someone who won trophies with a team competing vs teams who outspent them by 20 times, because that's the challenge here.

My first choice was Rene Girand who won the french league with Montpellier vs PSG. Or Jorge Sampaoli who'd won the south american europa league with a team from chile vs the brazilian teams. And if not a manager of that pedigree, I wanted a young up and comer from the lower leagues like Poyet, Solskjaer or Howe.

I didn't want Martinez because I didn't want a tried and tested failiure who hung around the lwoer end of the league and never won anything like a Bruce or a Hughes. I called Martinez wrong in thinking he was of that type and I've admitted it.

As soon as he won the fa cup, I was for him, I didn't think he was capable of that and as soon as he proved he was, I wanted him.

I think Martinez is the right man for the job, has done an excellent job so far and I'm willing to stick with him through far worse days than these.

What I'm not willing to do is pretend that getting beaten 4-0 in a derby is wonderful and fine and not something we should be upset about.

I had major reservations about Bobby at the start which have fadded away with the teams performance over the last 4 months. Every manager needs to accepts responsbility for bad results, they pick the team, select the tactics and prepare the players. The fans will cut Bobby slack on this result but no one should think that this result will be forgotten while he is with the club. He got it wrong last night but his options were terriable due to the state of the players and the availability of quality he had to put on the pitch. I think the blam for this game lays with the manager for his tactics and the board for what they do best, the square root of nothing when it comes to supporting the manager with a squad of players.

Funnily enough now you mention all that I do remember your posts from that time period now. I had you confused with somebody who wqnted big dunc and nobody else.

your last sentence sums up the problem...it doesnt have to be doom and gloom OR wonderful and fine...there can be balance even after a horrific result like last night.

sorry for the mixup

70% board, 30% manager, tbh.

You keep refusing to invest in the team and you're going to have bad days like that.

the more i put last nights game away as just a result of several different issues the more it becomes clear its the renewal of the squad that will be key to getting the success that seems very possible under this manager.

As repetitive as Daveks posts are...surely most will have to start to question the board if nothing major happens by friday night...and most definitely if we have not gotten bobby closer to the squad he needs by the time the summer window shuts.

Have to disagree about the players losing us the game, Martinez dropped a major bollock last night, and admitted as much In the post match interview. He should have spotted that our high line was absurd after the second goal, but he didn't change it.

while i agree, they're both at fault surely?

both of our centre backs are vastly experienced and international defenders (let's say we include barry in this as well), surely you can expect them to have some nous to take initiative themselves as well? i mean, put yourself in their position, after goal 2, you think "this isn't working". You don't continually do it until you wait for the managers orders to say this ain't working?

both sets at fault tbh.

But look at the posts I was responding too.

Mourinho deliberately went and stood on the sideline htat night and took the flak, took the ridicule but crucially did not hide away. Bobby reminded me of that last night. Trying to find a way to get us out of the dump without being further mauled but not hiding away in the dugout. Out on the sideline in the rain taking the torrent of humiliation like a man.

Good for him. I am chuffed to bits that such a dignified elegant and articulate football man is the manager of our great great football club. One defeat means nothing. They can have their divers and biters. We have the Grand Old Club that lives in our hearts.

Forza Bobby COYB.

I also think it shows how far we've come with RM that we expected to beat them at Anfield, something we never do.

I mean that's insane. That's not positive, that's insane.

I have literally not said anything at all bad about Martinez in any of my posts, I haven't criticised his tactics or his team selection or anything, all I've said is that I just disagree with treating a game like that as a secret positive as opposed to a complete disaster we just need to write a line under and learn from.

And just that makes me negative and having an agenda.

So where is the balance if that's too negative?
