RM comparison with Mourinho from last night

To the people saying Liverpool aren't all that etc, no they're not. But they have one of the most in form strikers in the world right now.

Suarez is unbelievable! I'd love to see how many goals he plays a part in, not just assists but at the start/middle.

Unfortunately while he's there they're in a different league, if he goes in summer i won't worry about them again, even with the money they'd have. But if they keep him and spend wisely, next season may be a horrible season to be a blue.

As for us, i've said it time and time again for years, we need to spend BIG on a striker, not 5m or loans, it's the most important position on the pitch, how many games this season have we needed a suarez to finish games off. Look how many draws we have, we've had 3 losses in the league so the defence are doing their job. Yet upfront it's not good enough.

If we're going to compete we need to stop thinking the whole team can help out here and there and realise we need a main man, a goalscoring machine...and they don't come cheap.

Liverpool 20 shots - 4 goals
Everton 18 shots - 0 goals.

Debatable, lets see how many city get past us first haha.

It's weird to see the stats between our game and theirs last night

Everton 60 odd % possession
Spurs 40 odd % possession

Everton 18 shots
Spurs 4 shots

I'd rather lose 4-0 trying to control qa game and looking to attack rather than the meek surrenders Moyes made us endure

Complete revision of history. Had it not been for bad refereeing we would have won twice their in the last three years. Distin's header and Kuyt's dive. Then you can add in Andy Johnson's one on obe glaring miss in the small club derby. Let's also remember that playing a Liverpool of Carragher Reina Alonso Mascherano Gerrard and Torres all in their pomp with Benitez at the helm of a settled side was a far different prospect. Back then they were better than us and the league position proved it. Moyes bottled a few of them yes most notably the Gerrard one but don't make stuff up.

We didn't look to attack at all last night, we just looked to hog the ball and couldn't even do that. That was the biggest most negative bottling performance at Anfield in ny memory and was more dour or negative than anything Moyes served up there. We did not go for it at any point.

That being said it does not overly change my positive opinion of Martinez as a manager. He cocoed up, fine , it was a horrendous night but he hasn't done it often. What annoys me is this view that everything Martinez touches turns to gold and Moyes was rubbish. 4-0? 'I'd rather see that than what Moyes served up' shut up, 4-0 is 4-0 it was rock bottom. Moyes and Martinez are both different but are both very good managers with different qualities and faults. Don't pretend Martinez doesn't have any though . Moyes always turned us round from our low points. That's what any good manager does. Martinez has to do the same and I know he will

How can you say we didn't look to attack , that is the reason we were so open because we went all out for the win and they hit us on the break and counter attacked us to death .

Attacking is playing forward balls and creating chances. We did neither of these things. We just played it side to side around their penalty area. Pointless boring and negative. So scared of risking a forward ball that we ended up taking greater risks at the back. Fear ridden negative football.

In general or just this game?

In general or just this game?

This game , Palace away , West Brom. The rest has been fantastic at times. It's not a shot at Martinez or his style when it's done properly. It wasn't the other night though. I just want people to call a spade a spade. That was a complete failure of Martinezs system but it doesn't mean it will fail every time. It just baffles me why people try and dress up a 4-0 loss as some sort of sign of improvement over Moyes. Marti ez may turn out to be in general better, but I was there and watched it with my own eyes so don't tell me we went for it or attacked and were just naive to get caught. We got battered because we had no concept how to attack or defend. It was a ome off, let's accept it and learn rather than try and glorify it as a sign if some master plan. It was just one big almighty mistake.

I dont think it was a failure of Martinez's system; surely it was a failure of Martinez's confidence in players (a lot of them) to react well to being reintroduced after injury and his unfamiliar back four? It wasn't the system it was the personnel (and they cant be blamed either really because you cant fight your body). It's the same system of going out and dominating play as we had at the Emirates. It's just that when moves broke down we couldn't react to a counter by snuffing it out at source of chasing it down.

It's not dressing up failure, it's analysing the deeper cause of it.

We had unfit players out there and were missing personnel who make a huge difference, it's like saying last time I matched the Porsche off the lights in my BMW M3 but this time I used the bog standard 1.6 petrol version and got left gasping in the exhaust fumes - I wonder why?

We were overmatched lad fannying around putting furry dice on the mirror and a loud exhaust mean naff all and that's what we do when major injuries happen.

Get real and stop your whinging.

Beaten 4-0 by that lot and for expressing even the mildest of negative sentiments you get 'stop whinging '. Wow, maybe we should turn a blind eye to it forget it and do the same next year.

Yes there were injuries no one is disputing that. I was just contesting though that we did not go for it or attack, we were very negative and blunt regardless of the reasons for it. It might not be every man back in the box negativity but if you're not making chances it's negativity nine the less.

Not sure how you accept our injury situation then expect anything different.

Any team getting overrun looks a mess whether defensive or offensive and that's what happened, Liverpool are a damned good team when up for it plus their strength in depth copes far better with injuries.

Tactics are mere chalkmarks on a blackboard in such circumstance.
