As posted elsewhere I am not saying Irish politicians are perfect by any means. But with probably one exception, I enjoyed working with every Minister over a 37 year career.

I found a high degree of intelligence and respect from them for civil servants.I just don't understand how the UK has voted these very strange people into power.

Some job on their hands. It's hard to see how P&O could've handled this any poorer. Aside from staff who they've treated appealingly, customers have been left completely in the lurch.

I've got family in Northern Ireland at present, who have used P&O. No notice, no alternative arrangements made, no proactive contact other than a standard tweet directing people to a website with no information.

It does defy belief, in the Civil Service. Ministers don’t go looking up the names of organisations they wish to communicate with. Nor do they type the letters. The personal/private and ‘permanent’ secretaries are supposed to check all this. Shambles, absolutely, incompetence without doubt, but I think you are looking at the wrong people…..
