I don’t know anything, same as you. But as they’re lawyers it would be reasonable to assume that they know the law. It was you who said that you thought Civil Service Lawyers would have been involved.Seriously, how do you know that…
It may have been mentioned on here before but P+O couldn't fire any of its Irish or French crews because they were protected by EU law.
Another thing given away in the brexit fiasco.

This thread has done one thing. Make me realise I havnt a clue about the staffing and the domicle status of shipping
There has been a lot of problems with the crews on board ships for years , look up flags of convenience, the likes of Malta , Panama , Liberia, its been going on here as well ships supposed to be working outside of are waters in international waters, and registered overseas, but effectively based here employing people on peanuts , Philippines, India and some Eastern European countries normally. This thread has done one thing. But on the EU thing. I thought that after Brexit, May basically put all the EU rules onto the UK statute book, the idea being that they would remove/alter each one in the fullness of time.
Still going on , I know fellas working on rigs , who do itOne of the few things I learned was when I spoke to a captain of a ferry (UK to Europe) and he said he didn't pay any tax as he made sure he wasn't in the UK for 6 months in a calendar year. If it was close then he made sure he was abroad on his holidays rather than stay at home in the UK.
It was quite a few years ago though, so stuff has probably changed since that conversation.
Load of lads that worked on rigs got caught up in tax evasion scams and ended up owing HMRC a fortune. Guys used to go round building sites as well getting folk to sign up to mad schemes. Usually came back to bite them a few years later.Still going on , I know fellas working on rigs , who do it
, Few have started to say they property on the Isle of man, lately so that will be another dodge I presume?

Well I’m pretty sure that Boris is not a Lawyer, and I very much doubt that he is an expert in employment law, so I imagine that he is just repeating the words he has been given on the subject by someone else. But when I posted the update I fully expected this sort of response…..
lolI agree, you don’t know anything….
lol
Pete, either Boris ignored the advice from his legal experts or he doesn’t know the law passed by his own government. It’s one of the two!
