Current Affairs P&O Ferries

I’m long out from doing this stuff, but when I did for this number of people suitable notice periods had to be given and instant redundancies could only happen with full closure of a business. I have no idea of current legislation and you would think that they have it right, but I have a sneaky suspicion that P&O may be on dodgy ground here….

Either way, they are behaving in a disgraceful manner after Covid, and if they get away with it I hope everyone boycotts the business. I would also expect Government to be getting involved here as P&O are putting U.K. trade at risk…..

Boris at PMQ’s today said P&O have broken the law…

Well, suprise, suprise, he lied, again. Anything that dribbles from that festering maw is always a lie.
*De Piffle.

Well I’m pretty sure that Boris is not a Lawyer, and I very much doubt that he is an expert in employment law, so I imagine that he is just repeating the words he has been given on the subject by someone else. But when I posted the update I fully expected this sort of response…..

Being PM should mean more than merely “repeating the words he has been given in the subject by someone else..”
While your point is relevant along the lines of he cannot be expected to be personally expert in everything, it should be reasonable to expect that his judgement will ensure that he surrounds himself with people or has access to trusted people who are expert in everything.
Instead he surrounds himself with toadies who tell him what they think he wants the hear. The P&O debacle being “illegal” rather than a direct result of Tory policy would save him some embarrassment, so, without thinking, he just blurts it out.

You absolve him of any blame, no matter what he says or does, but when I posted the update I fully expected this sort of response.....

I would think a few Civil Service lawyers may have been involved in presenting advice….
