Moshiri On Lukaku Contract Refusal

He will sign the deal without question.

Stll doesnt mean he will spend the next four years here, if we get over the summer and dont secure CL football the following year he will go.

I will say this is the best scenario. Give Koeman this summer, build a team of his own and see if we can get top 4 or win the Europa League next season. If we fail to do one of those then shake hands and we let him go for £75m.

His agent is dong a brilliant job and i think this is all his agent. Leak to the media the contract is 99.9% done, then a week later leak a hitch in the deal one which happens to publise a buy out clause for a buying club, then sign the new deal secure a better weekly wage for your client, safe in the knowledge that you know every club in European football know what it takes to trigger a buy out clause just before the summer window.

Seems very obvious to me anyway.

It depends on whether Everton will budge on the fee they required. I don't think Moshiri and Kenwright will...this club always sell players at good prices.

You say it's quite professional, but it's a text to a presenter on Sky Sports News and Talksport.

WHO SHOUTS REALLY LOUD

Admittedly yes, talking via Jim White is not the best way of doing things in my opinion neither but the positive to take from it is that it sounds better than coming from Kenwright or Elstone, so small wins.

Our heads do tend to fall off.

Dont get me wrong. Hsving been built up to expect the opposite I was desperately disappointed when the news broke. But we fans expect/hope that the players love the club as much as we do.

that is true, i was a little shocked myself to hear the news yesterday, first glimpse of it to be honest was this site on facebook mentioning it before i came on here to read about it. I think the idea of loyalty here does exist, we just need to offer something in return. Lukaku would retire here a legend i have no doubt, if we offered him top level football. Without it then he is going to look to further his career and to be fair he is right to do that, sadly just at the wrong time for us. If we met his ambitions i am sure he would want to stay, especially for the wages being mooted about the media. It is an entirely different discussion but to touch on it, for us to be ambitious and want to improve now, loyalty is going to be born out of success and progression rather than love.

There is that, im not sure its that bad for Everton if he doesnt sign a new contract. Dont get me wrong i would love him st stay but i am also realistic that it depends on Champions League football. If the new deal contains say a 70 mill buy out clause then that can be triggered whenever. If he doesnt sign a new contract he still has two years on his existing deal, so the summer comes around and whoever offeres 70 mill for him we ask for 90 as the magic number and he will stay anyway. We need to protect our own interests here.

I dont see him signing a new contract as critical to be honest to him being here next year or not, nor do i see it as any great indication if he does that he will be here in four years time.

to be fair when was the last time we didn't oversell a player? I would say only Arteta in living memory under Kenwright that we did not sell for more than their worth

Bingo.

Job done.

His agent doesn't make cash by leaving his clients at one club for years. He benefits by moving them on. And he will move Lukaku on.

I think by signing the new deal it protects us from selling him at a crap rate next year as he is entering the final year of his current contract. If Lukaku gives Koeman this summer by signing a new deal at a fixed release fee for say £75m next summer if we fail to reach CL nor winning the EL I guess most fans will understand and wish him well.

Yup. We sold Arteta for a relatively small sum because there was a gentleman agreement between him and Moyes and this club warranted it, gracefully.

I do not remember the details personally, just the fume and disappointment when the sky sports bell started going off at 11! :(

Not strictly true mate

They haven't agreed a deal that will rise to 80m at all Dave, they have paid 35m Euros and it''s been suggested that another 45m Euros in theory can be earned by the selling club IF the player hits every single one of the performance targets in the transfer.

From the Bayern Chairman for example

"The transfer fee for the current international, who was voted the Shooting Star of Portuguese Football in his home country yesterday is €35million, plus possible bonus payments that could become due if for example the player is named in the World Team of the Year or FIFA World Player of the Year."

The Likelihood is that it'll have stuff such a Ballon Dor nomination bonus, Ballon Dor winner, payments for CL title wins, a ridiculous amount of other goal, appearance and trophy targets that the player will likely never come close to reaching the majority of

Same way that Martial massive money transfer to United didn't cost them anything of the sort which was being reported and almost certainly never will do either.

In summary mate, Bayern won't pay out 60m quid up front on a player, it is completely against there very established and successful modus operandi
But that's just normal structuring of deals for clubs who usually win big competitions. And you dont really know the trigger points, so it's no use speculating.

Ok, there's a big gap between fee upfront and fee to be eventually paid, but the principle is there and Bayern have committed to it. Others now know what the benchmark is with them.

Someone made a good point though, whats 20 goals a season worth in the PL and how badly do we need the transfer fee. I mean would you take 50 mill and 20 goals next summer or 70mill this summer and no Rom next season.

A buy out clause of 70 million is about right, it's quite likely that a bidding war would push the price up anyway. I'm confident an agreement will be reached eventually.
The problem with a buyout clause though is that even if there is a "bidding war", it won't mean anything, because as long as Rom's club of choice bids the required buyout amount he can join them for that fee, irrespective of other clubs bidding over that amount. Example, if Man U bid the buyout clause (say £70m), Chelsea then bid £80m, if Rom wants to join Man U then we have to let him join Man U for £70m

Personally think he would be better signing a new deal, staying until he is 25, then looking to move to a top European club. This should give him about 5-8 years at the top, then seek a return to Anderlecht at say 33-36.

Rom is very ambitious to reach the top, which I completely understand and agree with, but as mentioned above, if he moves this summer he will end up playing second fiddle to more well rounded, experienced, consistent players. Lewandowski, Cavani, benzema as three examples.

Even though we may not like him, Luis Suarez for me personally has become one of the top 5 strikers in world football. His progression from Groningen to Ajax was a great move to prepare him for life abroad at a higher level. He then drove Liverpool to within touching distance of a league trophy before hitting the pinnacle of his career at 27/28 by moving to Barcelona. This path to the top was done with a lot of thought and planning. At 23 Romelu has time to follow a similar path.
