Moshiri On Lukaku Contract Refusal

We've got an owner who is prepared to be straightforward and give assurances when they are needed. So far he's always been upfront and usually right.

If the sticking point is the crazy valuation then the player would be frustrated. No one can know his long term value (but perhaps the figure should be re-valued upwards if he continues to produce the goods) - after all a release clause greater than 70 but lower than 90 will start to look cheap if he carries on getting 25 league goals a season.

Anyway - for now - I'm taking it as another player and his agent talking s...e. We've got him on a 2 year contract right now, for a lot less than the 140k he's apparently been offered, so presumably something will happen in good time.. either we'll get him to sign and stay a year at a time or we'll get circa 75M for him (with no hand-out to Chelsea, one hopes).

The main thing in our favour is that Rom won't want to remain on the wages he's on for another 2 years when he could double them. I wonder if they're just haggling over the buyout clause.

This is indeed true...but we hold the cards now and the MOSH statement kinda lays foundation to that. No, he won't fancy 2 years on what he is now...but unlucky, he's contracted, so tough teats, big-balls. In the interim he can't 'down tools' as I'm certain that would put clubs orrrrf as he needs to be seen as the 'real (no pun intended) deal' to secure a move to the bigger boys, so throwing a massive wobbler won't prove appealing (or will it?)

I'm not surprised he's looking at an out for CL, he's boss, and we're not....yet.

I'm disappointed though having watched that interview with the 3 denials. Paints him as a bit of a bad-tit really that...

Oh well.

I'm still oddly hopeful...get the clause in they agree on and which benefits all parties, hopefully he'll score bucket-loads 'til the time comes to part.

Can't do anything but wish him well then really....the snakey git.

Worst thing for me is m'kids are absolutely GUTTED. ('Why does Rom want to leave us Dad....why?) But kids are bad dick-heads sometimes eh....as are pro-footballers. ;)

Realistically, where could he end up when he inevitably goes? It will surely be to a CL club in one of these countries: England, Spain, Italy or Germany. PSG in France is the only other one but he will know that the league is poor. I had earlier thought the only options for him were Barca, Bayern, Real Madrid or PSG. Do any of those teams have £65-70m to spend?

Italy: Juventus, Roma, Napoli, Lazio and possibly AC Milan?

Spain: Could Sevilla or Atletico Madrid afford him? If Atletico sold Griezmann, then they could get Lukaku, but would they see him as a worthy replacement?

Germany: Dortmund

In England, Chelsea seems a likely destination but I would be disappointed to see us sell to a potential 'rival' in the next 5-10 years. Talk of Man United is laughable if they don't get CL football which I don't think they will.

Can't compare everyone to Pogba, on the contrary you could say Suarez went for £70m. United and Mourinho would not pay £90m for Lukaku.
Lukaku is worth more than £70m. In world football how many players are better than him when he still has 8-10 great years ahead of him and dependant on what aspects of his game continue to improve maybe even more. If, for example UTD or a Champions league club get him for £70m and keep him for that time he's going to work out at a bargain for £7-10m per season.

Why would Rom agree to a 90m release clause? He's ace but that severely harms his chances of a club being able to afford him.

If that is the sticking point then lower it, and let's get back to winning games with the big man knocking them in for fun.

If we get £70m for him I would not say we have been ripped off. I'd be shocked if a club was willing to pay £90m for him, apart from a Chinese club. His agent knows that as well, which is why they're insisting on a lower release clause.

Standard response, not like they are going to admit to issues.

I wouod like to think of it as a attention in the detials scenario rather than a worry as such. Plenty of standard responses moshiri could have offered but a he is our player, we will sort this contract out is actually pretty confident. As I mentioned , despite how short it was it was pretty much pointing out that we aren't arsed and we will sort it out, quite professional in my mind at least if not anyone else's.

Going by this forum the media win by all accounts.

It is natural for a fan Base, especially one line our own to think the worst of any scenario and over react slightly. Reading the match thread of the Spurs game you would think that we lost that game on the penultimate game of the season in 18th place.

I really want Rom to stay but I also dont want the club to roll over and give in to demands.

One player doesnt mean the end of Everton.

Totally agree mate.

In a worst case scenario, we set up to feed a lone striker, a lone striker who is not expected to hold the ball up all that much. What striker in their right mind isn't going to want to walk into that job? I'm sure we'd appeal to a pretty high caliber of player now we can back it up with cash.
