Moshiri On Lukaku Contract Refusal

His best attributes and as you said ability to run into space etc, will see him at a 'big club' face a lot less games where thats afforded and much more parked buses - but to counter that - better players around him etc.
You're right mate but by the same token he'll have more competition. If he's having one of his cba games he'll find himself getting dragged off after 60. Happens twice and he'll find himself on the bench next game. How does he cope with that.

Like Stones he isnt yet the finished article and another year or two developing with us is, imo, best for both parties right now.

Imagine how much Stones would have improved had he spent the last year under Koeman.

Moshiri is just playing along with the game in public. I wouldn't read anything into it.

I hope a compromise is found and we protect our asset value, as let's face it, unless we look like reaching UCL this time next year, he will be off regardless, he probably will be in the summer anyway. Since we signed him he has only ever been a window away from a move.

We hold some aces, but not all. If he is still with us by Sept. 1 with no extension signed, his value will have already dropped. People talk about two years left on his contract, but in reality that is only 3 transfer windows on a practical level, during which his value falls in successive periods if unsold with no extension. 12 weeks in the summer and a month in January before heading into the final year. That's tight enough.

Short of him signing an extension and staying, our best hope is an auction. I would prefer if he played abroad, but it isn't our problem as to who can afford him and who can't, and who is and isn't interested. If he goes, its thank you and goodbye, and onto reinvesting as best we can for the future.

Moshiri On Lukaku Contract Refusal

Majority shareholder Farhad Moshiri has released a statement through Jim White/Sky Sports news following reports that Lukaku had turned down Everton's offer of a new contract.

Moshiri: “It’s not an issue. We have a strong relationship with the player and his agent. We are very happy with Romelu and want to reward him.

"The club is committed to an improved contract for the player.

"No-one should worry. He’s our player"
MOSHMEISTER!!

A bidding war? If his release clause is 70mill and 10 teams were bidding for him they wouldn't have to offer any more then 70nil because it would have to be accepted. So it doesn't matter how many teams are bidding just matters of they bid 70
didn't moyes trigger fellaini's buy out only to get knocked back and had to come back with a bigger offer

Would that mean that if say Madrid, Barcelona and Manchester City all met the release clause then there is no gazumping, the bidding process is closed and the player decides based on oersonnal terms?

We could potentially lose him in the summer now for well below £70m. Ambition etc...
Everton don't sell cheap. That simply will not happen. If UTD spent £18 on Ashley Young (5-6 years ago) when he had 11 months on his contract no one and I mean no one is getting Lukaku for sub £70m this summer.

Of all the clubs you have listed in Italy, Spain and Germany - only Juventus have in the past dozen years came close to paying the type of fee we'd let Lukaku leave for, none of the others have come within half of that type of price (assuming 60-65m)

Indeed during that time period we probably have 3 or 4 of the highest fees paid for players out of all those clubs

and the one who has paid that fee - Juventus - have only did so last season and did so for a striker in Higuain - don't see them buying a second one - especially to sit on the bench

Out the other clubs you briefly mentioned.

Bayerns record fee paid is about 32m, Barca don't need him and he is entirely unsuited to their style of play, Real Madrid - Is he a big enough name for them to bring in? PSG - jarg club, jarg league - but who knows - the players ambition may be to play in a joke league but will get to play CL.

In England - Chelsea - record fee is still 50m they've paid - so will have to smash that record (the money they've got from sales to the Chinese league makes it possible ofc) but does he suit their managers system either? United - who knows really they seem to be trying to recreate the Madrid Galactico policy without wondering about the fact it failed badly for Madrid.

I read Milan (and Inter) have been bought out with mega money. I do wonder if they would fancy a statement signing. Let's face it the PLs leading goalscorer would fit that bill.

If Neymar were to go I could see Barca interested and I think he'd suit Real Madrid. As for this country United are the obvious choice. However if Chelsea get big money for Costa id sense they'd be interested. Same with Aguero and City. Arsenal would sniff around but under Wenger have never bid enough. A new manager may do though.

Essentially though I've given about a dozen clubs there.

Didnt he bid something stupid like 20m for the 2 of them. Think the clause was about 19m. The offer fell short and missed the deadline. Pure incompetance. And we moan about our own transfer dealings. United are a laughing stock at times.
