Lukaku

Weve played two very different styles of football these last two seasons, what weve seen when Lukaku is available and when he's not, is that it doesn't really matter how good you are if don't have a cutting edge, if theres a chance we could get him and berto wants to gamble big on it, I say go for it

Although he needs to improve some aspects of his game to be a top class striker I think he's the best forward we've had for years, even when he has a bad game I feel if he could get us a goal and I think he puts a little bit of fear into the opposition defence. I'd like us to sign him.

20 mill - just do it, still be a bargain!

There are better players out there for twenty million quid. If we have that cash to throw around, it should go on two or three different areas of the squad rather than one 'marquee' signing as the red tops like to put it.

Unfortunately 20million on a striker is not a marquee signing for a CL standard club. If we get a chance to buy him for that, we should snap chelseas arm off (assuming we have that much money). Liverpool are showing what an average squad with good strikers can do. We need a top striker, Lukaku is a top striker and top strikers don't come for less than 20 million.

You just mentioned Liverpool and their good strikers. Their main striker, Sturridge, cost just over half than £20m. So there's definitely value out there if you can look hard enough. Saying that, I doubt Uncle Bill would dig that deep anyway so it's all a bit moot like.

He's not worth £20m right now. He could be, but he's worth £15m tops based on his current development and his indifferent form.

We are OK(ish) in most areas.

I would seriously not mind if he was the only big signing with squad fillers to help us (hopefully) in the extra games Europe will bring us.

In the long term I think this will only help us.

When did the dread locks get cut?

Wish we could sign him but what about wages as well. If not him how about Remy or Burnley's Ings?

Yup, I thought someone would bring up Sturridge. They got very lucky there. He's the exception, not the norm and they have enough money to be able to take gambles. For me, Lukaku is a top striker, he will score goals. A bad season for him would probably be 12 or 13 goals. He's worth 20 million. Infact, if Chelsea don't want him and he has a half decent WC, I can see someone spending 30 million on him. It sucks but that's the way the market is.

Just thinking, Mourihno doesn't appear to rate him, he has got what he wanted which is Everton to do reasonably well the top 5, thus helping his side.

I would love us to sign him. He could be world class and that excites me.

We just need to use him better. I think if we are to really develop we need to get all attacking players including the centre forward; to move around the final third creating and using space. Interchanging positions drags defenders out of position creating space for on rushing players to use. It would then negate Lukaku's biggest weakness of holding the ball up.

This is all presuming we can keep him long term, and also that the opposing team doesn't camp eight players around their own box!
