I agree, but I would add that if we don't archive 4th it's all in vain.
Given Rom's apparent ego (and ambition) you are probably right. Achieving 4th looks pretty difficult from my vantage point 12,000 miles away but stranger things have happened....still 33 points on offer!

Is his idol Drogba?

I guess he wants to emulate him, at Chelsea too, most probably.

I'd love him here, like.

The season is SO long. 33 points (11 games) is just under 1/3 of the season still to go!!. Just getting to this stage, we've all experience such emotional vicissitude, such ups (Man U at OT) and downs (Sunderland), that it is easy to overlook the fact that we are just NOW entering the business stage of the competition. Hold on to your (blue) hats lads...nothing is done and dusted yet!

Are you saying it's on mate?

I like that!

I think this is a golden oppertunity for Chelsea to show some respect for the league this summer. Its a rare one wo they best take up the chance!

Right if they are keeping lukaku then go ahead keep him. He is a fantastic player and would score for fun in their team. NOw if they decide for whatever reason they want to sell him then they could do the following;

Court him around, name their price and see how many people will pay it, say it is 20 million. If teams say we'll take him for that, come to ourselves and west brom and go right, 15 million and you can have him, if not he will go to dormund or wherever for 20. That way, Chelsea can pay respect to the teams that have loaned him but cannot over bid for his services and worse case scenario is that they sell him for the 20 and replace him anyway.

I just dont see them selling though, he is part of a select group of players that they really wanted to sign and have kept on since e.g mikel. i believe chelsea will keep him and develop him into a superstar.

In the build up for his goal he asks for the ball about three or four times but he's either not spotted or players choose to go wide instead. I'm not sure whether some of the team don't realise how good he is or they want to shine on the ball themselves but, if Romelu is in acres of space anywhere near the penalty area getting it to him should be our top priority.

He showed his head by hanging back in space rather than joining everyone else in queuing up along the 6 yard line. I don't think I've seen him do that before, so maybe it's something he's been working on?

That was happening an awful lot before his injury and people were blaming him for not scoring. I said at the time he will score more goals when the others pass him the ball when he makes a run instead of playing it out wide all the time and slowing play down

Lukaku will be playing Champions League football next season; who for remains to be seen.
He'd have to go abroad to get that imo, as he's not going to get into the sides of any of the English sides who'll qualify. He could be used as a make weight in a deal for Costa though....

Thats the thing, we dont pass him the ball.

I had never really noticed until the swansea game where our 4 minute hero traore was not getting anything other than through balls for him to run onto (which clearly he couldn't do). The fact he started coming further back out to get the ball was a bit worrying for me. Really hit home where one of our problems lie.

The other being Naismith up front.........

A moth ago we were a point behind the sh*te,it just shows how quickly things can change.

There's still plenty to play for and 2 teams we can aim for imo.

with arsenal having sanogo as second choice and it's debateable whether giroud is much better than lukaku (not as much potential anyway) he'd be great for them.

personally, i can't see no champions league team in the world not going for him if he's available. he may want to stay in england which would give us a bigger chance.

i'll wait

No doubt about it, he's an intelligent player in the making. He's beginning to read the game well.

I fear though, that even though posts above suggest Martinez will (quite rightly) bust a gut to try and keep him, and if by some miracle we find the cash, if we don't get 4th it's bye bye.

Sad like, but probably the way it is. I'd love him to stay and hope RM pulls it off. Go for it Bobby.

My feeling is that we've held back money from our summer transfer dealings and tv revenue to make a big bid for him in the summer. Mourinho is complaining that he doesn't have any strikers so, presumably he doesn't really rate Torres and Ba. If that's the case, and Romelu has a future at Chelsea, why didn't he make Lukaku Eto'o's understudy? I think that the FFP investigation could have quite a large bearing on things and that Chelsea might decide to cash in on their young Belgian forward to help offset the cost of someone like Falcao.

Arsenal were looking at forwards in the summer (Higuain, Suarez and Ba) and I imagine that they'll be in the market again during the next window. Chelsea have demonstrated that they're not averse to selling big players to their direct rivals and it would satisfy Lukaku's desire to be playing CL football to move to the Emirates, so we might miss out on him anyway unfortunately.
