But, being honest, if you were an Israeli and what happened came out of the blue, which apparently it did, what would you recommend the Israeli authorities to do, suck it up or do something. If you were to answer do something then what would that something be…….

Well after the events play themselves out you would expect the Israeli government and its western backers to stop trying to bypass and block a Palestinian state.

Look to engage in a genuine peace process rather than changing the facts on the ground via illegal settlement construction and work towards the that goal.

In the short term Israelis lose the moral high ground by telling civilians to head south then bomb the convoys of civilians heading that way…..that wanton murder and destroys any moral or legal justification Fir the Gaza siege as it is deliberately targeted civilians like the terrorist Hamas.

By the way if Israel decides to tell civilians to leave Gaza and then not allow them back in and then allow settlers to move in then it is nothing more than a terror state.

Would it not seem sensible for the people of Gaza to hold their elite (Hamas) to account also ? Until the senseless killing and murders stop, dialogue has no chance……

I don’t think it’s anti-Semitic to state that within the Jewish population there is a Cabal working for their own interests. It’s similar to saying that with Italian population there is a Mafia that exists which works in its own interests.
The problem lies within the greater Jewish community ignoring or failing to hold this community to account. That’s what has happened in Israel and this Cabal just sacrificed 1500+ of their own to further their own interests.

That argument has been used to justify attacks on the Palestinian population. Do you agree with the thinking that states it's their fault for not holding Hamas to account.

They would still exist, the people of Gaza are subject to an air and sea blockade so rely solely on the Israeli and Egypt borders for the delivery of food, water and vital goods

The land grabs are just indicative of how the Palestinians are treated as a people. When these people have their dignity and respect restored they will tend to favour the more humane of approaches to address this conflict.

We can justifiably look at what she's said in her position and question her mandate to do so, but honestly what has her family history go to do with it?

I'd like to know why one of the best funded and well equipped security services in the world were seemingly caught with their pants down.

I'd also like to see them do something. But repeating the cycle and bombing civilian populations wouldn't be it.

A question though…After Hamas killed all of those innocent people, kids and babies, then took hostages, what would people on here have recommended Israel do ?……

Not go in all guns blazing and take down anyone caught in the path. It would be bad enough in a country where people could cross land or borders to escape. To do it in an area where people cannot physically get out, or give them laughable deadlines so you appear to be showing restraint is never ok.

It is a difficult a complex situation to navigate, that much seems clear.

After the initial Hamas attack, it is only normal to expect the world to be horrified and offer Israel support as they did.

The attack of Gaza has to stop but it must be noted that Hamas are still firing rockets out of Gaza at Israel from civilian areas. They, Hamas, by embedding themselves among Palestinian civilians have demonstrated a shocking level of disregard for the people's wellbeing. This could be seen too in them telling Palestinians to ignore Israel's warnings to leave the area to be targeted.

I am sure that the back channels will have been requesting adherence to international law. You have to hope that this is the case at least.

It is complex, but thats what politicians, diplomats, military leaders, human rights organisations etc are there for. Of course they are right to be horrified. They are right to offer support to Israel at that moment but with caveats. Instead they heard what the Israeli goverment were spewing and still offered unconditional support. Its only in the last few days leaders have started to backtrack slightly and talk about civilians. Its too late though, they had already emboldened the Israeli goverment into commiting what amounts to war crimes.
