I think it is reasonable to say that of all the international actors watching this mess, the ones who would benefit least from it escalating are the west, especially due to the situation with Putin and Ukraine and the power struggle with China. At what point along the road to peace do we stop? Do we see stumbling blocks like immunity, reconcilliation etc and stay there? Or are there areas for concession to save innocent lives?

You know that it can be argued that it is the very same elites who benefit from separating people and nations. The EU, for example, is not perfect but is a noble and sensible vision. It needs some work but don't all institutions. The UK likewise and there is a growing understanding that the UK in the EU was a much better propostion. I hope that one day we can get to a one planet, one people mindset but us and them scenarios won't help this.

The West is financially bankrupt, in fact it’s drowning in debt.
Now historically speaking there’s 2 ways to go, a massive Deflation or the preferred route of high/hyper inflation which governments seem to prefer. But what you may end up with is a roller coaster of volatility ie deflation followed by high/ hyper-inflation then another deflationary crash before a new financial system.

The U.K. political system is still a feudal system with a veneer of modernity. You could wait 100’s of years for a little change. For example a democratic 2nd house instead of a House of Lords. It needs taken apart in my view not fixed.
