Current Affairs Israel is an apartheid state

Israel's problem is that the tail has wagged the dog for too long. The national-religious settlement movement is far too powerful and their overarching greed and messianic beliefs (that the Messiah will come when the entirety of the holy land is settled by Jews) will be the end of Israel existing as a Jewish state. In a couple of generations or so, there will be Jewish minority rule in Israel and the Occupied Territories, and history has shown that the world won't stand for minority rule. A viable Palestinian state is no longer possible because of the West Bank settlements, and the Palestinians aren't going to just disappear so what's the alternative? Israel will, at some point, have to assimilate the Palestinian population of the West Bank and Gaza Strip, or dismantle the settlements, which are now too large and too numerous to be dismantled.

I remember reading this a few years back.
Amongst the dark humour, there were some pretty horrific tales in there on what the Palestinians have to put up with on a daily basis.

The story of how the Israelis built an artillery firing range on one side of a settlement and placed the guns on the other side so the residents had to live with live shells whistling over their heads is one that will stay with me.

Criticism of Israeli policy has been intentionally conflated with anti semitism so people are far more scared to speak out. It’s a disgrace

This is a tricky one.

Criticism of Israel is justified, and right on many occasions.

I strongly disagree with all of the current Conservative regimes policies. but I still support Israel's right to exist.

People can get in trouble though, when they retweet known Holocaust deniers and unsavoury right wing fruitcakes.

This leaves them open to accusations of antisemitism, and can, as you say, shut down debate.

A shame if that's true Jimmy.

The IHRA definition of antisemitism regarding Israel states the following:

1. Accusing the Jews as a people, or Israel as a state, of inventing or exaggerating the Holocaust.
2. Accusing Jewish citizens of being more loyal to Israel, or to the alleged priorities of Jews worldwide, than to the interests of their own nations.
3. Denying the Jewish people their right to self-determination, e.g., by claiming that the existence of a State of Israel is a racist endeavour.
4. Applying double standards by requiring of it a behaviour not expected or demanded of any other democratic nation.
5. Using the symbols and images associated with classic antisemitism (e.g., claims of Jews killing Jesus or blood libel) to characterise Israel or Israelis.
6. Drawing comparisons of contemporary Israeli policy to that of the Nazis.
7. Holding Jews collectively responsible for actions of the state of Israel.

Sadly, I've seen them all online in various places. I would think number 4 is the trickiest one which people may fall into inadvertently.

They're a rogue state. They operate an apartheid system. It's not justified to condemn one or two things they do, the whole system is a cesspit of racism...and many jews here and over there know it too, which is why they oppose it.
