The tone changed in the last few days after leaders originally went all in on bigging up Israels ability to defend itself. Imo they are just as reponsible for giving the green light for what is happening now and let’s hope history remembers.

I think they were suprised at the outcry and fallout afterwards and are now trying to backtrack slightly.

But it's turned and used as justification when the martyrs created by these actions carry out revenge attacks.
The situation is like top trumps. When you look at the Palestinian issue and 'who threw the first punch' the history of Israel as a 'nation' from biblical times is brought up, when the reality is it should go no further than the Balfour Treaty.

A question though…After Hamas killed all of those innocent people, kids and babies, then took hostages, what would people on here have recommended Israel do ?……

First of all if I was an Israeli, I would be seriously asking why my government sacrificed 1500+ of its own people.

While it's encouraging that the general line of questioning from the media has now shifted to 'do you condone Israel's response?', it's still so frustrating to listen to interviewers act like the violence only started last Saturday.

At what point, if ever, will questions start being asked of the occupation itself?

After the initial Hamas attack, it is only normal to expect the world to be horrified and offer Israel support as they did.

The attack of Gaza has to stop but it must be noted that Hamas are still firing rockets out of Gaza at Israel from civilian areas. They, Hamas, by embedding themselves among Palestinian civilians have demonstrated a shocking level of disregard for the people's wellbeing. This could be seen too in them telling Palestinians to ignore Israel's warnings to leave the area to be targeted.

I am sure that the back channels will have been requesting adherence to international law. You have to hope that this is the case at least.
