Not an easy question to answer, but it would have to remain proportionate. The history of this conflict is littered with the disproportionality of Israel's historic 'responses' or 'defence'. Similarly Israel's aggression, making the first move, is more frequent than the West care or want to report. The incessant land grabs on innocent people create more fighters, the indiscriminate killing of women and children, ripping children from their families at gunpoint, from their school classes at gun point, for throwing rocks. The frequent cutting off of essentials like water, power, medicine and foods, all foments.A question though…After Hamas killed all of those innocent people, kids and babies, then took hostages, what would people on here have recommended Israel do ?……
This concept of defence? How does that work? The attacks by Russia on Ukraine are rightly called out as inhuman and in breach of human rights, and like attacks by Israel on Palestine illicit wholesale support from western governments and in the UK opposition too.
So, as to what should Israel should have done? Well it shouldn't have done all the crap it did on a daily basis. To call itself a democracy it has to be able to negotiate, not sit at talks while its army bulldozes peopleshomes, or kidnaps opposition.
The rank hypocrisy is what fuels this. The duplicity from the west, the economics, arms sales, constant aggression from Israel must be recognised globally, until it does, enough people will continue to say of the Palestinian actions, as grotesque and abhorrent as they are, 'can you really blame them? Can you understand why?'
They've been left with nothing, and even less hope and then they have their child killed...
