Current Affairs Irish Border and Brexit

Ha ha! Brilliant! The British public voted for Brexit. The British government negotiated the WA. The British MPs voted the WA down three times. The British public elected a minotity government, which is now propped up by a bunch of bigots who cannot and will not compromise. 0.2% of the British public voted this complete mess of a Prime Minister in. This British Prime Minister is apparently not going to negotiate with he EU until it backs down over it's border with a non EU (shortly) country.

And it's all Leo Varadkar"s fault. You get madder by the day @peteblue.

And BTW.....Leo wasn’t even Taoiseach when this fiasco was unleashed on us in 2016.

We'll be seeing a lot of British MPs slinging mud in Ireland's direction as they come to realise that the EU are serious about protecting their border. These crackpots will blame Remainers, the Irish, the EU, Jeremy Corbyn, Tessie May and anyone else who isn't a right wing zealot. Everyone, actually, except themselves.

If we are now ruled by the mob then so be it. As one of the people who pushed for the current affairs section to enter existence, I find it sad that intolerant groups have formed and are unwilling to debate or take offence at differing viewpoints. It is obviously disappointing that people resort to reports rather than argue their point, I’m sorry if it takes up your time. I will no longer take part in this thread and it can remain a thread of single minded, single viewpoint Irish fuming at the British government.....

It's this refusal to accept you may be wrong and the refusal to listen to people's lived experiences that is the issue.

There was not even an issue about peace until he raised it in public. Also, and let’s be very clear here, the ROI did not suffer that greatly, the overwhelmingly greatest number of deaths took place within the U.K., specifically NI. So it was not even Varadkars place to be going on about this in the first place. He has deliberately stirred the pot and he should be ashamed of himself......
Such an ignorant comment. I’m not even going to try to respond to the point re ‘who suffered the most’.

On the other comment, the Taoiseach has always been expected to look to the interests of all people both North and South. He represents me as much as he represents someone born in Dublin. He is doing just that in the EU negotiations.

I’ve said it before and I’ve seen and heard nothing to change my view, Varadkar has single handedly ruined any chance of a deal with his political manoeuvrings and demands. All the while stating, and often repeated on here by his supporters, that he has 26 countries backing him up. Well very shortly he is going to find out what the big boys league is all about...
I agree, the Irish govt are out of their depth. Brexit will ruin them.

Well Brexit has already been the “ruin” of two British governments in the form of Cameon and May.

It will in all probability ruin Johnson’s government in due course.

The Irish government might indeed be out of “its depth” but by George it is in much shallower waters than the Cameron and May governments drowned in and those in which Johnson is already floundering.

Glad you agree
