Current Affairs Irish Border and Brexit

If we are now ruled by the mob then so be it. As one of the people who pushed for the current affairs section to enter existence, I find it sad that intolerant groups have formed and are unwilling to debate or take offence at differing viewpoints. It is obviously disappointing that people resort to reports rather than argue their point, I’m sorry if it takes up your time. I will no longer take part in this thread and it can remain a thread of single minded, single viewpoint Irish fuming at the British government.....

Pete, I left the Brexit thread for the same reason. Just let the remoaners moan among themselves. There is a Brexit thread on another website I go on. The only posters are remoaners, its hilarious. They post links, usually from the Guardian, and any anti-Brexit stuff they can find. No Leavers bother to post, just go in now and again for a laugh. Pathetic really.

Big Jim Larkin....a man among men.

Leader of the Dublin dockers during the Lockout of 1912.

Which is the backdrop to one of my favourite ever novels....Strumpet City by James Plunkett.
Most hold my hands up meant to say his family farm not his birth place. He was born in Toxeth and had his apprenticeship in work and politics amidst the Liverpool docks and riots.
A "Lion of the fold" can think of view Union leaders that have a statue on the main street of a European capital.

One thing we Irish and Scottish have in common is that they voted to remain in that annoying yet very necessary uniion of 28 European countries with very diverse backgrounds.

Apart from a minority of Brexiteers in the six counties and Scotland, the majority see the clear implications of what London is doing and how many ordinary people will suffer because of precious positioning.

I really hope that the new French owners of GM decide to stay in the Wirrall but realistically it looks grim.

Is HMG going to buy all the cars manufactured there? (See other posts regarding £500m to be spent buying slaughtered cattle).

I am on phone so don't ask me to add a photo....I take it you have seen the statue of Jim opposite the GPO in Dublin. Google it if not or maybe someone can add.

Is there anyone here who doesn’t know Pat?

lol
I knew him when I was in London. On the way to a game at the beginning of the 93/94 season I remember him saying he was convinced we were going to win the league with Rideout and Stuart up front, and me laughing me bollocks off.

We just about stayed up on the last day of the season and I made a mental note that some Evertonians are just blind to the bleedin' obvious. lol

He has told me a few cracking stories of away days, particularly Millwall. I am overdue a pint and a Brexit debate with him :pint2:

Yeah and considering how the lockout and strike that changed a nation started, the location is ironic. Himself being passed by public transport all day.
