That’s disgraceful tbh. The lad has said what he believes and because you do not agree then he should sod off. Who the hell do you think you are, this is peoples lives.....
Really Pete? @RichardP posted this previously and you gave it a like as it happens.

If you don't want to be a part of UK then either take the Irish passport and cancel your UK one and move to Ireland or get a referendum organised.

Irish press reporting that Irish are prepared to go for a unified free-trade area between UK and the Republic of Ireland - with border checks at Calais on goods bound for both nations - in order to avoid a hard border in Ireland itself.

To avoid the imposition of a hard border in Ireland the Irish press is reporting that Varadkar is privately telling opposition leaders that they may have to accept EU border checks being imposed on the continent in Calais and other EU entrepôt. There would have to be a fudge on the EU requirement for a hard external border – something that Juncker has already signalled would be acceptable. .

There is going to be a lot of misinformation being pedaled about in the next few weeks

the Irish government and the EU need to stand their ground.
It is the UK who have created this mess

It’s not about standing their ground. That’s why we have a mess. The EU and the ROI should have worked for a good deal for everyone. Trying to stitch one party up always comes back and bites you on the arse...as the ROI will find out.....

Belize and Botswana will support the UK.
Everything is going to be fine...

Please stoppitt......my sides are sore lol here this morning.

Between the banter on this thread, Joe and Bruce going to Brussels, the outrage over the kids at the Lincoln Memorial, the return of Yala Bo and and a urinating contest on the Silva thread about who has the worst record between him and Sam my head is sore laughing.

I love you guys....

Not quite, as Scotland would be crying why the NI gets special privileges. This would lead to questions with a far greater risk to the union than what happens with NI and brexit.

I also can't see how the Irish PM can say it will stay open either, as in the end that might lead to Ireland being asked to leave the EU if they have no control of a border with an outside territory. If everyone was happy to have an open border there wouldn't be a backstop to talk about.

Good points.
I see the Scotland/England relationship as an internal UK issue as opposed to the Ireland/UK issue.
Scotland will push for independence no matter what happens in NI and given the Brexit mess, they're likely to win it IMHO.
They would still have to go through the EU re entry process. God knows how that border situation would resolve it's self but it's far less likely to be as volatile as the British border in Ireland. It's kicking the 'border' can down the road but it might buy time to sort the mess out.

The Irish are only happy with the status quo, i.e. an open border between two zones in a common market.
The prospect of an open border between two countries with different markets is a mess no one in the Republic wants.
