You keep looking for someone to blame instead of a solution. Fine, enjoy......

Pete blames the EU and ROI for 3 pages and when I say 'stop blaming the EU for the UK's mess' I'm the one looking for someone to blame. You, sir, are something else.

I've been crystal clear on the best solution. The only sensible solution, in fact. A simple one that avoids economic calamity in the UK and a hard border in Ireland:

Rescind article 50.

That is in the best interests of the UK, Ireland and the rest of the EU.

The only state which actively colluded with terrorists (repeatedly) to allow them to carry out bombings and killings was... the UK and MI5. Both north and south of the border.

"On a vast scale leading directly to the deaths of hundreds of people..." to quote the Amnesty International report into it.

I havnt got a dog in this fight, but selective quoting does not help. You acknowledged yourself what he said.

You could argues the toss all night long how many were killed by who and why and when and how, but for the future of this thread, or your and @bigbadjeff being participants in it, I suggest neither of you do.
Fair dos @roydo , I’ll back off

Hundreds of extra staff to be recruited by Revenue before the end of March to deal with the expected huge increase in applications for import and export certificates in the event of a no deal Brexit it was announced today.

To add into that, reports suggest that around 10% of NI Civil Service posts are to be moved urgently to Brexit related posts.

So your solution is to overturn a U.K. wide vote that attracted the greatest number of votes in UK history. A vote that had more votes cast than 7 times the entire population of the ROI and more than 24 times the last Irish vote turnout. Yeah, that’s what we should do, just ignore it and move on......

I have had sight of some of the planning docs and I did note that part of the resource is intended to man identified key petrol stations as well as the usual stuff you’d expect re the practicalities of cross border trade.

I have personally found it un-nerving to see how our usual way of life could just be switched off in a matter of weeks.

Then it’s a pity that Varadkar didn’t think about it at all. I accept that very little thought was given to any border issue prior to the vote, but Varadkar has had two and a half years to try and find a way working with the U.K. . But of course he chose not to and he tried to be clever and played politics with it, until it is now screwing up the chance of any deal, and will lead to ROI economic disaster. The U.K. will take a hit and many EU countries will take a hit, but we and NI will get through it. I fear for the ROI though. But I’m sure Varadkar has a cunning plan....

Actually I am more familiar with ROI government planning and they are way ahead of the North in their no deal contingencies.

I couldn’t disagree more that the ROI will be worse hit than NI. They at least have a functioning economy and retain the ability to attract multinationals to invest in the country. NI is a basket case in comparison and factor in the loss of E.U. infrastructure grants that it has become dependent on and ladies and gentlemen we have a winner in the race to the bottom.

You know, the more I think about It, this whole Brexit madness, although instigated by Cameron, was brought about by Putin's men manipulating the Referendum.

And that it was a dry run for the big prize later in the mad year of 2016...placing his puppet in t' White House.

Putin has de-stabilised the USA, the EU and is in the process of completely banjaxing the UK.

All without firing a shot

You wouldn't read about it :(
