Daily mirror ?

I think it’s entirely possible he misheard and I’ve thought so from the start but we’ve absolutely no idea and apart from Some spurious reporting nothing seems to have told us anything further since the live footage of the event .

Dailly Mirror know nothing, they also said that the issue was resolved at half time.
I tend to think that him mishearing him is the most likliest of outcomes, but if Holgate thought he said something then he should and rightly so of reported it.
The fact is not the bit the mirror have reported, but the bit when Kennys head blocks the view point of the camera which means none of us know what has gone on.

and that handball in the quarter finals with Ghana

Whilst he is deplorable as a person, this one isn't so bad. He didn't physical harm or verbally abuse anyone and did it knowing the consequences which were completely within the rules. If it was for England, i'd do the same to be honest.

The biting, racism, stamping, diving all comes first in my eyes.

I know I was being sarcastic about the mirror mate, I’ve hammered it previously in this thread .

Here's a thought, had Firmino said something to him prior to the push? Jogging past him or something, thus pre empting him to react?

I just think he was angry over the penalty decision mate, then the lesbian backing into him sent him over the edge.

I disagree; what he did was the same sort of win-at-any-cost nonsense that is behind the biting, diving, stamping and everything else.

Strange way of looking at it. If something happened between me and the bar tender, those people around us would be the first people the police or investigators would ask about it, they are called witnesses, along with CCTV.

The ref was also even closer to him than Holgate was....so ysing your example thats like saying a policeman was closer to the barman than I was when that incident happened.
Oh no doubt you'd call witnesses, but is somewhere loud, it's hard to hear what's said unless they're looking directly at you, and almost certainly why it'll go no further, unless you're a dufus and tell your team mates what you said/admit it, like Suarez.

His legacy should be that he was banned for racism and bit two players, one in a World Cup and one in the prem. instead the kopite media machine has painted a picture of this unbelievable player who won them the league challenge (no one mentions they didn’t win it). Their fans still will protest his innocence because they’ve been drip fed the line that it was all a conspiracy against poor Luis.

Honestly I don’t think it’s the case that kopites think he’s innocent. Some probably do but I think for the majority because he was their player and undoubtedly a world class player their willing to forgive (read downright ignore and laugh off) his indiscretions- it’s a case of football fans doing what they do best- being hypocrites.

It all depends what you think is worse idiotically and blindly backing your player no matter what or openly accepting him for what he is because he’s good at playing football. I’d argue the latter is a problem that goes beyond the RS.

Nailed it there Deckard.

Is it? Based on what?

To be fair, I think that's probably been the most likely explanation all along, but I've not seen anything other than the ridiculous "he said puta" stuff (we know he said that, it's what is potentially said afterwards when the camera can't see him that's the potential problem), which attempts to suggest one way or the other that it's an issue or not

Based on the referee's match report that apparently said that he didn't hear the slur when he was as close as Holgate to Firmino when it was allegedly said. And the lip readers that have spoken out on it.

At the off-camera moment, the ref was in the middle of it and surely would've heard it. The idea that Holgate would make it up to get away with a card is patently absurd, but I think it's unlikely that Firmino could've said the n-word without the ref having heard it too.

Maybe it's just the optimistic lefty in me hoping that we're beyond this [Poor language removed] in the UK in 2018.

So no more info than Friday then.
