Ha of course, ask them when they are alive!

It's grim and nobody likes to talk about such things of course but I have made perfectly clear to all my family and friends what I want and dont want to happen if I pass away and vice versa.
I haven’t, I am hoping that when I am dead I won’t care what happens to my remains. Though, on thinking about it, I am going to insist they celebrate my life and don’t mourn my death.

Well, exactly.

But now thousands of people are going to see money they spent on tickets and travel to sporting events, and other places that have chosen to close their doors, go up in smoke unless they can attend the rescheduled fixture/event.

I read that some channels won’t broadcast comedy programmes for the next 10 days.

It’s genuinely ludicrous that, out of respect for a lady that the vast majority of the nation can’t begin to relate to in the current climate, we should be forcibly denied some of the escapism from the drudgery that we face every day.

It’s tone-deaf and a tired tradition that has no place in modern society. The last monarch died 70 years ago. What may have seemed appropriate and respectful then is not now.

I understand that's your perspective mate. All I'm saying is switch on the tv (well, once all the pre-recorded tributes have done) and see what the 'vast majority' of the population is thinking about this. 'Ludicrous' is a bit harsh..

I don't think its london, and my guess is its a bit done previous which has now been overdubbed with 'another one bites the dust'. but, a guess all the same.
Those would be my guesses as well, given the speed of its release. Point being, if it was entirely legitimate, they would still be entitled to say it. They don't respect the monarchy, and bluntly they probably shouldn't. If you asked a citizen of Nanking to mourn Hirohito, you're probably getting something far more vile in reply.

Reality is that someone in a head of state position for a long time amasses a record. Some people are going to be pleased with it, and others are going to spit at the mention of that person's name. The conversation can stop short at "this is how I feel," but it's a lot more productive to press on to the 'why'.

Also I think the supporting of Prince Andrew in his legal fight against very unpleasant charges with a kings ransom at such at time of financial hardship for many will really have soured many people’s views.

Yes I mentioned that earlier, made me think less of her. But I do think that would have been the 'firm' as Harry calls it behind the Monarchy to protect their reputation from further damage.

Reading some of the stuff on the royals is eye opening as you think well she is queen she can do what se wants, but apparently not.

All these firms putting their condolences on Twitter and claiming to be saddened by her death and sympathetic to the mourning of the nation.

Let's see how many shut up shop for a day or two as a mark of respect and allow their "mourning" employees to grieve their beloved Queen.
