Can't cover the 'leccy bill with no horse racing bets coming in.William Hill are tomorrow
I don't get it though she's literally had no power to be anything but a figurehead for GB and the commonwealth since her reign began, if you're angry at her because she didn't do anything to stop people being poor, take that up with the successive Tory governments we've had, yeah the Monarchy is garbage idea, being born into such wealth that was earned through some pretty grotesque methods of the time, but she didn't do that, as far as royalty go, she was as good a Queen as any Queen could be with zero powers to actually govern the country or perhaps ya'll want an actual Monarchy and to let the Queen govern us and make us not poor ?Reality is that someone in a head of state position for a long time amasses a record. Some people are going to be pleased with it, and others are going to spit at the mention of that person's name. The conversation can stop short at "this is how I feel," but it's a lot more productive to press on to the 'why'.
We only give credence to what we choose, I can laugh off this and that, I can laugh at something else as well. It's all personal choice, I'm glad their isn't a gun to my head ushering me into the town square for three days forced mourning and crying, in the same breath that my next meal (currently) doesn't depend on how much love and respect I can show for whichever gallant hero of the moment is in favour. Those would be my guesses as well, given the speed of its release. Point being, if it was entirely legitimate, they would still be entitled to say it. They don't respect the monarchy, and bluntly they probably shouldn't. If you asked a citizen of Nanking to mourn Hirohito, you're probably getting something far more vile in reply.

If I manage to get to 96 with apparently all my marbles intact and die peacefully at home after an extremely brief illness with family at the bedside I’d hope they celebrate my death too as it seems about the most optimal way you can shuffle off this mortal coil!I haven’t, I am hoping that when I am dead I won’t care what happens to my remains. Though, on thinking about it, I am going to insist they celebrate my life and don’t mourn my death.
can 'horse' from the lightning pic over the mersey have some wings and a place to please?
I'm an American. I don't have a dog in this hunt. If you want my opinion, I think she did a pretty good job of helping establish a post-Empire identity for the state, but that she also did some fairly tone-deaf things along the way. Not as many as Philip, mind, but still the sort of tone-deaf things that people of privilege do. It's a mixed-bag record where she definitely gets plaudits for comporting herself with dignity in public. Compare to later generations' conduct in the public eye, and she looks pretty darned good.I don't get it though she's literally had no power to be anything but a figurehead for GB and the commonwealth since her reign began, if you're angry at her because she didn't do anything to stop people being poor, take that up with the successive Tory governments we've had, yeah the Monarchy is garbage idea, being born into such wealth that was earned through some pretty grotesque methods of the time, but she didn't do that, as far as royalty go, she was as good a Queen as any Queen could be with zero powers to actually govern the country or perhaps ya'll want an actual Monarchy and to let the Queen govern us and make us not poor ?

so what happens with money?
I have about £60 in notes and £20 odd in coins (yeah the great gatsby)
is it still fine?
It will still spend. I have a pre-WWII penny that somebody gave me in change the other day, and it spends fine. That's in America, mind you, but it works the same way over there. Your mint and printers will gradually take the money out of circulation and replace it.so what happens with money?
