She has been Queen for my whole life. She had dedicated her life to her country and her people, something very few people on this planet have ever done. She has worked for over 70 years…just think of that, 70 years for the benefit of her people and the betterment of the U.K. and the Commonwealth. Those of us who have lived through her reign, will never see the same again and history will no doubt reflect this. It’s a terrible day for our country and shows up the shallow and lightweights that currently inhabit the airwaves. R.I.P. Elizabeth the second, probably the greatest Monarch we will ever see……

A good chunk of The Commonwealth will have had an issue with that statement over the past 70 years.

I didnt say that though, (I may have to be fair I have posted a lot tonight...) I said it may be an idea to ask the person before it's too late.

Also pulling sports, TV etc is doing exactly what you are saying! It is determining how people should show their respects. At the end of the day it is only going to be a small number of people making these decisions isn't it?

To be fair here I have been nothing but respectful to people with differing viewpoints here, something I have been very wary of doing the right way as it is an emotive subject.

There's possibly a snowball effect going on. But people and institutions no doubt feel they are doing what needs to be done in the circumstances.

Some on here have suggested that the life of the Queen and her impact on the world is no more important than the person who has been so unfortunate / lazy in life that they have not been able to make a decent living. The comparison is baffling.

At the end of the day though, each to their own, but live and let live.

I wont be mourning her, but im not celebrating her death either.

Not a fan of the Royals or the Monarchy, but I didnt mind the Queen.

I think its sad that its come at a time when the country is breaking, there is a class war bubbling in the background. The fact that she's so privilaged while people, especially other elderly people, are going to be hit so hard in the next few months has seen more vitroil aimed at her passing than we should be seeing or we would have seen years ago.

Also I think the supporting of Prince Andrew in his legal fight against very unpleasant charges with a kings ransom at such at time of financial hardship for many will really have soured many people’s views.
