I'm not sure what gives you (or anyone for that matter) the right to determine how people should decide to show their respects to anyone.

You've missed the mood of a nation of individuals and institutions who have spontaneously decided to act with 'respect', as they feel.

They do it with the same gusto that you choose not to.
I didnt say that though, (I may have to be fair I have posted a lot tonight...) I said it may be an idea to ask the person before it's too late.

Also pulling sports, TV etc is doing exactly what you are saying! It is determining how people should show their respects. At the end of the day it is only going to be a small number of people making these decisions isn't it?

To be fair here I have been nothing but respectful to people with differing viewpoints here, something I have been very wary of doing the right way as it is an emotive subject.

Am I correct to say that Celtic FC are the only British side that are likely to be against any tribute to the Queen?

I don't think it would.go down well.with many clubs. Ours being probably one of the most vociferous.

If you say so.

Apologies for being more concerned with the plight of people who can’t afford to eat but are working.
Sums it up. What a world we live in. Don't get me wrong if it was one of the kids then yes of course it would be very sad but at 96 after a life of unparalleled privilege - do me a favour

I wont be mourning her, but im not celebrating her death either.

Not a fan of the Royals or the Monarchy, but I didnt mind the Queen.

I think its sad that its come at a time when the country is breaking, there is a class war bubbling in the background. The fact that she's so privilaged while people, especially other elderly people, are going to be hit so hard in the next few months has seen more vitroil aimed at her passing than we should be seeing or we would have seen years ago.

Not really mate, it's an antiquated oath that has needed to be changed for decades and in the wrong situation could be used to horrible consequences.

No armed forces oath should exist which doesn't have the duty to protect the people as the first and foremost principle of it

I’m not disagreeing with you at all. Plus they did say they weren’t offended in their reply, so apologies.

Well, exactly.

But now thousands of people are going to see money they spent on tickets and travel to sporting events, and other places that have chosen to close their doors, go up in smoke unless they can attend the rescheduled fixture/event.

I read that some channels won’t broadcast comedy programmes for the next 10 days.

It’s genuinely ludicrous that, out of respect for a lady that the vast majority of the nation can’t begin to relate to in the current climate, we should be forcibly denied some of the escapism from the drudgery that we face every day.

It’s tone-deaf and a tired tradition that has no place in modern society. The last monarch died 70 years ago. What may have seemed appropriate and respectful then is not now.

Because by the wording mate, it would directly place the people pledging that oath against the people should the situation of choice ever rise.

In very few past (if any) conflicts in my lifetime mate will you have been defending my liberty and rights, I can assure you of that.

Anyways not the place for this at all so I'll not continue, much respect for anyone whose ever served in the forces
Thanks brother
