Current Affairs Her majesty the Queen

This is a sad day , almost too sad for me a simple soldier for over 20 years to contemplate, IN 1971 I stood on the day of my enlistment with one hand on the bible and one hand on my heart and pledged my allegiance to The Queen
That allegiance has not wavered during her watch and it will not waver now
God Save The King

No offence mate, but the fact the oath of allegiance contains not one jot about protecting or defending the people, their liberty or rights but is all about the rulers kind of makes it for me not worth the paper it's on.

Is it a mark of respect though? I mean what does it do? Nothing really.

Black arm bands, maybe the anthem before the game (at grounds that will be OK with it anyway).

Does anybody actually ask these people what respect they would like to be shown? The Queen would probably be fuming that they pulled the Horse racing if anybody bothered to ask her.
especially as her acca was winning 5 out of 7 races and now zippo!

It's not really taking the piss though (some are I suppose).

These feelings come from somewhere deep inside. Especially in present times were people are properly struggling to merely exist at times. That will always breed resentment. I think purposely trolling about it just to be a knob is crap, but A lot of people are just sharing their true feelings which I think is more productive really.
There's quite a few taking the piss mate, and that's what doesn't sit right with me. Maybe I'm just being over sensitive because I've lost a few recently.

I don’t take any offence
I stand by my statement
If you cannot see how pledging allegiance to the queen by default means pledging allegiance to the nation then that’s not my concern in my 27 years service I was shot at soar at sworn at and had stones thrown at me all in defence of your liberty and rights … all of that started with my pledge of allegiance

One positive is that at least that rancid sack of spunk Johnson has gone.

The thought of watching that vile rat give out an obituary would have been stomach churning.

All the usual bells would be claiming he got us through the royal death, or something equally as mind blowing.

This is now the Current Affairs area, I believe there is a more strict code of conduct applied here so the fun & games from the ale area might need toning down a tad. It's been notable that a few of our brethren have fallen quite recently, lets not top up the numbers...

Fair point, advice well heeded here at least. I'll take my leave of you all and see you back at the Ale House.

Until then, stay safe and consider that post before letting it go.
