Is it a mark of respect though? I mean what does it do? Nothing really.

Black arm bands, maybe the anthem before the game (at grounds that will be OK with it anyway).

Does anybody actually ask these people what respect they would like to be shown? The Queen would probably be fuming that they pulled the Horse racing if anybody bothered to ask her.

I don’t think there is any point in asking her at this stage, she is hardly going to answer.

This is now the Current Affairs area, I believe there is a more strict code of conduct applied here so the fun & games from the ale area might need toning down a tad. It's been notable that a few of our brethren have fallen quite recently, lets not top up the numbers...

Pretty sure the CA is moderated less strictly than the Ale House. But the topics tend to be more emotive hence the ban hammer coming down as people push too far.

Anyway, I was quite sad when I heard the news. She’s been Queen for my entire life (as with most people) and so it was weird to hear she’s finally gone. Don’t really have a strong opinion on the monarchy either way but thought she always came across well and carried out her role well. Can understand why some people don’t care or have stronger views but the overriding feeling for me is that it’s just weird that she won’t be Queen anymore and having to learn to say King Charles.

The thought of watching that vile rat give out an obituary would have been stomach churning.

All the usual bells would be claiming he got us through the royal death, or something equally as mind blowing.

Absolute nonsense. It has NOTHING to do with the club. You can not define a person by the club they support, that's just daft. Everton like any other club will have idiot fans and good ones.

This whole attitude that you and others have kind of worries me.

When someone dies proper discourse should be encouraged. How did it make you feel, what are your thoughts on this death, how does it effect you, how did her life effect you etc etc. Do you think other people should be mourned etc, It's productive to talk and to share your true feelings.

Bottling everything up and just shouting "MOURN PROPERLY, EVERYBODY MUST MOURN" whilst we are fed a diet of mawkish teeth gnashing into our eyes and ears is a really unhealthy attitude.

Speaking of tough announcements, I actually felt for Liz Truss earlier <spits>.

She’s what, 2 days in the job, and has to go out and make that statement? Must have been bricking it, and I had some sympathy for her.

Would have been terrified of stumbling over her words, but actually managed to get through it without ballsing it up.

She'll be doing bloody cartwheels of joy mate, for about a month she'll have a free pass on everything as it'll be none stop Queen Liz news 24.

Guarantee she will push out all sorts of stuff which normally would go down bad this period

There is absolutely nothing wrong with you feeling that way. I get it even though I don't totally agree with it. It's all just opinions and true feelings at the end of the day.

It's grim and nobody likes to talk about such things of course but I have made perfectly clear to all my family and friends what I want and dont want to happen if I pass away and vice versa.
