2025/26 David Moyes

Top half finish might tempt one or two more players to join us.

Europe helps more, obvioulsy.

I do get the feeling that Moyes is not totally sold on 2 games per week, though. His comments this season indicate he'd ideally have us finishing 9th and out of the eurospots but in a respectable finishing position. If you could hand that to Moyes right now he'd snatch your hand off, IMO. 🤷‍♂️

Personally i suspect, Moyes wants Europe more then the club/owners do mate.

Realistically Europe is ahead of schedule for TFG IMO, the current squad cant cope with Europe IMO. So if you do it, its going to be a big investment or else you tank in the PL next season and dont qualify the following year. I suspect the club would prefer to qualify every season sustainably and not just this season and not qualify the next.

This season is unique in the sense, if you qualify for Europe you can only spend 75% of your turnover, if you dont you can spend 85% - if im the TFG is Europe all that attractive right now .........not really.............not enough to go hell for leather in the January Transfer Market anyway like someone like Villa did.

Also either us or Roma need to be in blind trust come March - to safeguard qualification - if we both qualify for Europe - lets see if that happens, that will tell us whether its an objective.

How come Dibling and Barry got dragged off at half time in games early in the season, made a holy show of and criticised in the press for playing poorly yet players like Gana, Tarks and NDaiye can have poor games on the spin and play 90mins every game?.

Heard people ask why do we never find players like Rayan at Bournemouth?. Moist would not have given him minutes, no prem experience.
He has his favourites and will almost never budge from that, regardless. All managers have favourites who they trust more but Moyes takes it to an extreme. Multiple ex players have talked about it too, if he loves you then he loves you and that's that

At some point soon, fans are going to find out if they are supporting a football club or, actually, a stadium facility management operation.
It's increasingly looking like the latter. I'm all for rugby, international football, concerts, etc... at the new stadium but only if that results in more spending on fees and wages for the football club. If we just bumble along while the shareholders pay themselves big dividends then we might as well be an American style "franchise" and if that's the case I'll be jacking it all in.

I know we went hard for Johan Bakayoko and he choose RB Leipzig over us he was no 1, Fofana was 2 and he wanted to wait until the end of the window as he wanted European football, we didn't go back. Kubo - there was a deal to be done but R.S.'s valuation was above ours and he also wanted a big package. Eventually we ended up with Dibling.

Was something very similar with Rohl.

We weren't that attractive in the summer and that surprised the club and disappointed Moyes. I agree Grealish was fortuitous and if im honest im not a huge fan of his signing.

Will we be attractive in the summer, i think we will be in a better position then the year before, we will be a lot better if we get Europe - but i think we still would have convincing to do - for really top targets - i think we are still in recovery from Moshiri and will be until the start of 27/28. But i also think we have less to do this summer.
Not quite to the level of being in Europe, but I think we'll find it easier this summer. There's now a year of 'proof' that we're not longer the mess of a relegation type club that we were for the 5 years or so prior to that. Much easier sell

Well we don't have anyone who would be a good full back week in week out either, shall we rule out the possibility of playing a back 4 too? Surely whoever the manager is and whatever system they prefer to play, we have to work on the basis that we would be recruiting with that in mind?
We don't buy fullbacks. Part of the clubs charter apparently.

I mean... is it?

Literally seen (and heard) it multiple times already this season..

Barry and dibling have been taken off it games this season coz they've been absolutely sh!te. Whats he meant to do. Keep them on to prove a point lol.
He's been asked about their performances and he's said they need to improve. Is that a lie?
Ive just read on here that he doesnt trust/play youngsters like Rayan. What was harrison armstrong on monday then, a mirage?
Theres half a dozen of you on here lead by davek whipping yourself into a frenzy that he's the antichrist.

Great post, nails it.

The only thing I'd split hairs over is having less work to do... If our purchases develop, sure this is the case .

But right now:

  • I think having failed at CF (Barry is raw, needs LOADS of time),
  • no FB's ( and we're going backwards by not playing those we have)
  • and not built Rohl or Dibling or Aznou into first team, we have effectively gone backwards in the gaps we already had
Jack will disappear I hope, was never up for him, but he did try. Leaves money for the gaps above, plus moving on McNeil and Seamus calling time

Think there are big decisions to be made mate, we've committed a fair bit in the sense Rohl will be made permanent. That leaves a decision to be made on Grealsih (who is a self confessed Moyes fan boy) - i suspect Moyes would like him back, but if you add the two that's a decent chunk of our resource.

Then you have George also, we may have committed a lot before we look at anything else.

Or we just do Rohl as are obligated to do and if a new man coming in he maybe doesn't do Grealish or George...........maybe.

No lies detected.

I think we may have progressed in attractiveness slightly mate, but i also think teams we are directly competing against Brighton, Bournmouth and Brentford have positioned themselves well as "landing clubs" for players looking for exposure to the PL.

If im a player id be thinking i can go to those clubs for a year or two and if i succeed ill defo be sold - i wouldn't be so sure if i came to Everton and maybe we shouldn't be that - but it does create that juxposition in terms of recruitment.
