2025/26 David Moyes

They really wont mate, i think our fan base have our heads stuck in pound land when it comes to players, Dibling, Barrys fees are bog standard for potential these days. Moshiri really did a job on us.

We should be spend 100 - 150mill + a window to be standing still, the club needs at least that dropped on ittow or three more summer windows, minimum. If the club doesnt do that as a minimum it will be left behind.

As i said on Monday - we were beaten by an Axis of Cunha, Mbeumo and Sesko for their goal - thats the guts on £300 mill making the difference.

If you are going to go cheap, you may as well go home.

I agree on Europe also, its fine having a plan to qualify, but football isnt linear - we have an opportunity this season we may not have next and i dont care if its a one yar adventure at this point. But i think the club look at it differently objectively.

I've always said we need a massive City or Chelsea type takeover. That's the only way to ensure success and the quantum leap we need.

But a very good manager and club that has a good system in place to bring players in and sell them can get you very competitive.

Villa last 5 years net spend:

25/26: £-14m
24/25: £39.54m
23/24: £-65.44m
22/23: £-38.25m
21/22: £-2.32m

Will be bookmarking this for years to come.

He does more about turns, than his best mate, Keir Starmer.

We were Villa under Moyes 1.0 mate.

The next step when we overtake, Brighton, Bournemouth and Brentford is competing with Newcastle, Villa and Spurs on and off the pitch.

Sort of.

I've made this point many times before: you have to split the Moyes 1.0 era into pre-2009 and post-2009.

Moyes sold big-to-middling names in the earlier period and got pretty much all of there cash back from those sales to recycle; later the firesale happened and he was doing negative net spend summer spending.

In short: Moyes was left alone to build a couple of teams between 2002 and 2009. That's a massive 'investment' in support from a board who had his back.

They might have had his back but they didn't give him much money.
Kenwright & co were lucky af with Moyes 1.0

Agree, the legs and energy are still there.

What's happened though, is for the only time since Gueye has been with Everton, the club have someone else who can do what Gueye has done for so long. But can do it better. And has the ability on the ball to retain possession and positively progress it up the field.

As such, Gueye's failings; which have been there since we very first signed him, stand out like a sore thumb. Especially on Monday, when the guy we have who is better than Gueye gets sacrificed to play at right back and it shows yet again how good a holding midfielder we actually have on our hands.
I'm not sure I'm having Garner as a defensive mid. (Then again I don't class Gueye as one either really)

Of course he shouldn't be playing right back though!

To be honest I don't love how our fans turn so easily. Gueye has been a boss player for us, he has a bit of a blip and everyone is shouting that he is finished and should never start for us again. There is a middle ground to be had here.

I think we may have progressed in attractiveness slightly mate, but i also think teams we are directly competing against Brighton, Bournmouth and Brentford have positioned themselves well as "landing clubs" for players looking for exposure to the PL.

If im a player id be thinking i can go to those clubs for a year or two and if i succeed ill defo be sold - i wouldn't be so sure if i came to Everton and maybe we shouldn't be that - but it does create that juxposition in terms of recruitment.
But let's say we manage to get Iraola, all of a sudden we have a manager known for platforming players well, taking their game up a level, turning them into stars - and that's on top of being a much bigger club that pays better, has a higher floor, etc etc - I think it transforms what recruitment is possible

Going into the summer and you're hamstringing yourself trying to convince agents and players that Moyes is a good manager to sign for - they'll ask well what about Aznou who you apparently lied to about game time? What about Patterson, who you also apparently lied to about game time? What about Rohl? What about Dibing? How can we be confident our player will get in ahead of one of your trusted favourites, and if they do get game time, will they even be played in their preferred position?

The agents/managements of all those players will be pissed off, and football is a small world at that level. It's a huge issue.

Edit: went off on a bit of a rant there, don't know why I even aimed it at you 😂 apologies!
