2025/26 David Moyes

Not sure what point you are making on being binary - im a Moyes far for sure and just sharing - you are clearly doing the opposite.

Mate he was here for what 11 years.....we know what he can achieve given time.
Sure, it's all about opinion and ours is somewhat different. That's why the forum is a great place.

But what exactly were those achievements? I'd hope that with the new ownership, new ground and the way the Premier League has exploded as the Worlds most-watched football league we'd hope to achieve more than he did in those 11 years. It's a very low bar to be fair. I'm not sure the vast, vast majority of Evertonians would be particularly satisfied waiting another 11 years for a few timid performances in the odd semi-final appearance and constantly hitting a glass ceiling whilst the gap gets bigger. I'd be disappointed if TFG weren't equally demanding of their manager in wanting better than what's gone before.
Personally, I think we should be aspiring for much more than a Europa Cup run which was the last positive thing we achieved under Moyes.

Next season. When we sell Illy and use the money to buy technically proficient but glacially slow midfielders to replace him.
Illy is looking frustrated like Grealish was before, Branthwaite will start getting frustrated, Garner will feel the same getting stuck at Rb.
KDH losing the 2 players around him on the same wavelength, will start getting Frustrated..
O'brien has been carrying that frustration since Dyche.

It's not just us fans, it will hit the players aswell.

Honestly the job of work to win the league is to compete with teams who can spend 500 mill in one window or 1 billion in a calendar year. So to compete you have to find a creative way to compete and that involves revenue generation. Moyes built a club to be in a position were it recruited and developed players to an extent that it meant 100s on million to the club, while also producing money from Europe, placement etc. Thats a platform that if done in a modern context gives you the means and platform to compete. We're year 1 of that.

If you are asking me today will i be happy with being best of the rest, qualifying for the CL, qualifying for Europe fairly regularly and being the best of the CL clubs from were he started from under Dyche, i would defo be happy.

Ambition isnt ambition without a plan mate, its just blind hope things get better. Essentially whats being argues in this thread - is juts get a better manager, its a bit of a silly plan really, there is far more nuance ad variance.

All 3 of these players are rumoured to have had interest in them over recent months so we need to be careful otherwise they will look for a way out.

No one on his coaching staff will question his authority. They are all yes men. I don’t see any merit in more wholesale changes but I would add an external proven winner to his back room staff. Last set piece appointment was a disaster but there must be someone who would grasp the opportunity that the players would listen to and Moyes would value? Just watched John Terry on Golf Life. Got all his badges. Overlooked by Chelsea. Ask the question as clearly we have a relationship with them.

I'd hand Baines a chance this summer.
Personally i suspect, Moyes wants Europe more then the club/owners do mate.

Realistically Europe is ahead of schedule for TFG IMO, the current squad cant cope with Europe IMO. So if you do it, its going to be a big investment or else you tank in the PL next season and dont qualify the following year. I suspect the club would prefer to qualify every season sustainably and not just this season and not qualify the next.

This season is unique in the sense, if you qualify for Europe you can only spend 75% of your turnover, if you dont you can spend 85% - if im the TFG is Europe all that attractive right now .........not really.............not enough to go hell for leather in the January Transfer Market anyway like someone like Villa did.

Also either us or Roma need to be in blind trust come March - to safeguard qualification - if we both qualify for Europe - lets see if that happens, that will tell us whether its an objective.

I appreciate those points, mate.

To me though that just means we need more efficient use of spending. £40+M for Dibling and £30M for Barry is obscene. Another club would be getting 4 players with proven quality with that £70M - loans and/or fees.

Europe: qualify for it and use it wisely. Dont start loads of starters and get the periphery of the squad game time experience.

Nothing ventured nothing gained.

I'm sick and tired of this club operating with the handbrake on.

They really wont mate, i think our fan base have our heads stuck in pound land when it comes to players, Dibling, Barrys fees are bog standard for potential these days. Moshiri really did a job on us.

We should be spend 100 - 150mill + a window to be standing still, the club needs at least that dropped on ittow or three more summer windows, minimum. If the club doesnt do that as a minimum it will be left behind.

As i said on Monday - we were beaten by an Axis of Cunha, Mbeumo and Sesko for their goal - thats the guts on £300 mill making the difference.

If you are going to go cheap, you may as well go home.

I agree on Europe also, its fine having a plan to qualify, but football isnt linear - we have an opportunity this season we may not have next and i dont care if its a one yar adventure at this point. But i think the club look at it differently objectively.

This is word salad on steds……simple…..Moyes has to go, and there really is no point waiting till end of season

Moyes is what happened as a direct result of us pulling the trigger mid-season last time. We aren't going down and we aren't getting Europe. Let him coast to the end of the season and open up the managerial possibilities in the Summer.
